Pink Elephant is a three-person painting company run by Phellipe Sousa out of Peabody, and the striking thing about it is how quiet the public record has gone. Thirty Houzz ratings average 4.9. The written accounts behind them stop in 2020. The Better Business Bureau has the business trading since 2011, incorporated as an LLC in 2015, and grades it A+ — while stating plainly on the same page that it is not BBB accredited. Its Houzz profile lists "BBB - Accredidation" among its awards. Both cannot be true, and the BBB's own file is the one that counts. What they do is straightforward painting: interior and exterior, ceilings, cabinets and cabinet refinishing, wallpaper and paint removal, deck staining, pressure washing. Two lines set them apart from a plain painting crew — epoxy and garage floor coatings, and lead paint removal, which matters on older Essex County housing stock. BBB lists commercial work alongside residential. On licensing, Houzz lists a home improvement contractor registration for the company, HIC 176311, and a lead-safe certification the company claims for itself. Those are listings, not confirmations. Ask for the registration number and check it against the Office of Consumer Affairs before signing anything. Two smaller things worth squaring up on the phone. The base address differs by source: BBB gives 515 Lowell St in Peabody, Houzz says Boxford. And the company's own line about "over 20 years of combined expertise" describes its people's careers rather than the fifteen years BBB records for the business itself. The right call here is a homeowner who wants careful interior or exterior repainting, cabinet refinishing, or a garage floor coating, and who is comfortable that the review history — while deep for a shop this size — is several years old. Ask to see work finished in the last year and for references from those jobs, and confirm the registration and the lead-safe certification yourself.

We were dreading the mess involved in scraping our popcorn ceiling off and refinishing it to a smooth finish! To our surprise, Pink Elephant's workmen were so organized, conscientious, and very neat! They covered the walls, cleaned up after themselves, and did an awesome job!! Polite, and answered all my questions. I highly recommend them for all your painting needs, no matter how complicated! An A+ Job!!

We are so happy we hired Pink Elephant! From day one, we knew we were in great hands with Phellipe and Sheila, as the initial consultation was incredibly professional, organized and thorough. The painters were incredible, and the prep work is where they really shine - everything is buffed, fixed and mended before the painting even begins. They were on time or early every day, and worked quickly and efficiently. We are so happy with the finished project, it completely transformed the look of our house. We would highly recommend Pink Elephant for any painting project, exterior or interior, and will definitely hire them again.

The painting in my house was done very well and they started on the date agreed and completed the job in the days estimated. I needed some help moving out a couple items and was kindly assisted. Good attention to detail and communication as the work progressed. The quote was accurate and I would use them again and have I have recommended them to my friends.
