Rebuilding after a fire or flood is a central part of Prospect Builders' work. In a July 2025 Google review, Linda and Dave Kern described a porch destroyed in an accident and praised Prospect's help from the insurance appraisal through coordination with the contractors and the finished reconstruction. The company is based in East Longmeadow and advertises 24/7 emergency service and insurance. Its BuildZoom profile describes more than five decades of emergency and restoration services across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The customer experiences include serious workmanship and repair disputes. A Google review updated in February 2025 described restoration after a December 2023 house fire. The customer alleged that hardwood flooring had been laid parallel to the joists, leaving waves, gaps and uneven areas, and said cabinets and a standing pantry failed to meet the floor or ceiling. They reported refused repairs and a proposed tile replacement requiring a liability waiver. The same customer said items that should have been cleaned were stored in the house and developed mold for almost ten months, and also criticized painting and communication with the team. A February 2025 BuildZoom reviewer likewise complained about flooring laid parallel to the joists, a proposed tile floor and liability waiver, and a pantry that did not meet the floor or ceiling. That account also described insulation protruding inside and outside an installed window and bathroom window trim that remained unattached after repeated attempts. Other customers praised completed reconstruction. In an August 2023 BuildZoom review, Lori and Dave Purcell described a March 2022 house fire, replacing their first contractor with Prospect, and being back home after 15 months. They praised the subcontractors and named Matt Trinceri as their main contact. A September 2022 Google customer thanked Dean, Denise, Jeff and Pete for a rebuilt deck and described long hours in heat and humidity. In November 2019, a customer described flood restoration of a first floor and finished basement, praising demolition and abatement, Michael's project organization and help negotiating with insurance, and communication from the office. A May 2025 remodeling customer praised punctual, polite and neat crews. Prospect's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. BBB gives the company an A+ grade and lists accreditation. BuildZoom lists Connecticut home improvement contractor number HIC.0551442 and new home contractor number NHC.0004432. Google shows 4.1 stars from 22 ratings, while BuildZoom shows 3.0 stars from two ratings.
Prospect Builders did an amazing job on our porch reconstruction. When an accident destroyed our porch Prospect was on the scene almost immediately and worked with us through the entire ordeal. From the insurance appraisal to the various contractors involved, they could not have been more professional, knowledgeable and thoughtful. We could not be happier with the final results. I would trust them to handle any project in the future and we are grateful for the incredible hardworking contractors they employ that restored our beautiful home. Thank you to Prospect Builders for everything! Linda and Dave Kern
The team at Prospect Builders went above and beyond to provide us with the best service ever on our remodel! Every crew that came through was on time polite and neat. I appreciate the high quality of your workmanship, it exceeds expectations. I highly recommend using Prospect Builders
Update 2-21-25: I work from home 4 days per week and I tried to make contact but you all leave the second you arrive. I am also battling a crippling medical condition so I can't sprint around like you believe I can. When I was able to make it down, I was met constantly that the blame is on my house and have made every excuse for this happening, but the actual cause. I have yet to see ONE floor as requested that looks like this where your customer is happy. I even invited your wives in to show even they would not accept this flooring. the work was done incorrectly- point blank. from the beginning the answer was HARDWOOD FLOORS and quality. Every member of your team was well aware of that even back to living in the trailer unit. How would we only need to be out 1 week if the flooring needs to acclimate to the temperature to ensure it doesn't end up cupping from any moisture or have any separation from reduction during acclimation. the ONLY resolution relayed to my husband was a tile resolution. I can stand playing cards in my floor. this is bad business! Looking back at my messages with my husband, I met with the flooring company and your team on 11-4-2024 and I was told that floors just get wavy and split and it's normal to have giant dips in my floor that cause me to fall. Update 2-14-25, they refuse to do any repairs. they are forcing us to put in a tile floor and sign away ALL liability. Four months into moving home, I shouldn't be able to have playing deck cards stand up in my floor at plank width. Mike at Prospect is condescending and all of their sub contractors refuse to accept they simply can't do their job. What is happening to my house isn't on my house they laid the floor wrong. I'm still waiting for my standing pantry to touch the floor AND/OR ceiling... Update 12/23/24, after about 2 months being home, my cabinets are no longer touching my ceiling in any location. And after going through old photos, they laud my floor PARALLEL not PERPENDICULAR to the joists, but they want to blame my house being old. Still dealing with them after a house fire in December 2023. Photos will be added when done to allow for another round of repairs. They refuse to fix our floor and I have a protruding disc in my back and my kitchen floor is so uneven my cabinets don't touch my floor or ceiling. I legit cannot walk into my kitchen without wondering when I will slip next. God forbid we have a spill, it will go right to the basement. They knew of the issue and put shims under on one side and tried hiding it with quarter round. The floor is now pressing against my living room floor and splitting my boards. Their painters are just as bad. Oh and we found boxes stored in our house that were supposed to be cleaned so we had mold growing on our things for almost TEN months. My house being 100 years old does not mean my floor should be like walking on a water bed. I wish I never called them!
Vile company. Ruined my home and are gaslighting us into thinking their poor craftsmanship and inability to see the facts. They laid our floor parallel to the joist causing them to open up between every floor joist. They are blaming my foundation, humidity...no, it's them. They are now forcing us to take a tile floor and sign away liability. We have insulation from the window they installed coming outside and inside. My window trim in my bathroom had to be done so many times, I gave up...it's not even attached anymore. My standing pantry doesn't touch the floor or ceiling. I asked for quality...and that's one thing I didn't get. Hardware, color and style were open, but QUALITY was a must. They did not deliver quality at any standard, not even sub-par.
We had a house fire in March of 2022. We started off with a different company. After a month of just lip service we fired them and hired Prospect Builders, best decision we ever made. They were wonderful. They were direct, kind and professional. All of their subs did a great job. Our main contact was Matt Trinceri, great job Matt, you were a joy to work with. After 15 months we are back into our beautiful home. Thank you Prospect Builder and Arbella insurance company. Lori&Dave Purcell
