Two customer reviews exist for Providence Fence Company, and they land at opposite ends of the scale — which is the whole picture a homeowner has to work with here. The company is based in Barrington, Rhode Island, and works only in fencing: wood, vinyl, chain link, ornamental metal and agricultural fence, sold and installed for both homes and commercial sites. Its Better Business Bureau file puts the business start date at April 2002 and describes an S corporation with 22 employees, and BuildZoom names Daniel Lawlor and Stephen Langlois with the company. The reviewing history is genuinely thin and genuinely split. Only two comments have ever been left on BuildZoom, both back in 2022, one enthusiastic and one describing a serious dispute over money after a job was called off. Nothing since. That is far too little to read as a trend in either direction, and it is the single most useful thing to know before calling. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+, but the same profile states plainly that it is not a BBB-accredited business, and its file was only opened in August 2022 — two decades after the trading history the page claims. BuildZoom shows two Rhode Island Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board records against the name, one marked active and an older one it describes as having been cancelled. Those are the directory's claims; nothing here was checked against the state board directly. If you are getting fencing quotes on the East Bay, this is a long-standing local shop with a real material range — but ask for the current registration number and check it yourself with the Rhode Island Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board, and get the deposit terms, the cancellation terms and the signature page in writing before any money changes hands.

Fence, $6,000. Honestly.. these guys mean business. Dan gave me an estimate on the spot, and was able to give some promotional offers to me like a veteran discount, and a law enforcement discount. We got on the schedule the same day, despite 6 weeks out - it was worth the peace of mind knowing my job was on the books. A month goes by, Dan calls and says "I can get your job done this Saturday, let me know if you're ready for us" - YES! Our dog has been leashed up all summer, so this was awesome news. Dan communicated the process thoroughly including the fact that the job was going to be quite noisy as their crew custom builds each panel on site to perfectly match the grade. The top was perfectly flat with a nice decorative trim and the bottom was tapered all the way from the front to the back of the house to make sure our dog didn't crawl under. During the project, their crew was respectful, pleasant, and took great care of our property. I can't wait to have Dan's other company remodel our kitchen and bathroom. These guys are top notch - Dan is a young guy but incredibly professional, knowledgeable and an incredible leader for his team. I have owned many houses, and have worked with many contractors. Dan is by far the easiest contractor to deal with. No games, no hidden fees, no gimmicks. They ran into some issues and I was expecting a higher price at the end. When I asked Dan if we were looking at higher prices due to unforeseen circumstances his response was "Nope, I accounted for that." So while their prices might be a little higher than most, its certainly worth the comfort of no surprises.

Install fence, $3,600. My experience was horrific. Dan canceled job & said he would refund my deposit. I texted back for date of refund, he said read your contract. I signed nothing!! He had typed my name under signature line which was not signed. He is refusing to refund my $1000 Beware
