"One point of contact for various specialties. We did not have to manage or coordinate anything." That is how a July 2026 client sums up a run of projects at their property, and it is the shape of the business: Provost Companies runs construction and remodeling, landscape construction and masonry, landscape maintenance, and snow and ice management as divisions of one Stoughton company serving Greater Boston.
The company says William Provost founded it on January 1st, 2008, growing out of helping on his father's construction jobs and servicing neighbors' properties, and puts itself at 18 years in business; Matthew Provost is named CFO and Christine Provost is named in business development. Its Better Business Bureau grade is A+, and its own site lists a Construction Supervisor License after several staff names, including the CEO's.
The remodeling work customers describe is large. In an October 2025 review, a family had their split-level ranch renovated with a two-story addition that added multiple bathrooms and a bedroom suite and reconfigured the kitchen and living space. An April 2024 client had the entire first floor of an older home reworked from several small rooms into a modern open concept with an up-to-date kitchen, a job that included removing a chimney. Another April 2024 review covers an addition with a primary bedroom, ensuite and walk-in closet, plus residing the whole house and replacing the roof, and credits weekly meetings and updates from Bill and Dana. A December 2025 customer built their work around a kitchen renovation and wrote that Bill checked in on progress regularly.
The grounds and hardscape side has its own run of accounts: a front and back yard overhauled and a deck torn down and rebuilt in Pembroke, per a September 2023 review; a crumbling retaining wall replaced in September 2021 after the crew laid out options to keep to budget; and driveway drainage in October 2022 for a homeowner who found their new house sat on a high water table. Reviews often name the person running the job — Matt Wilson as foreman or project lead across 2024 reviews, Dan on bathroom remodels, Rich on a months-long kitchen and bath in April 2025.
Two accounts go the other way. In January 2026, a resident at Pembroke Woods in Pembroke wrote that Provost, the snow removal vendor there, did a terrible job, left extremely unsafe conditions, did not plow any handicap spots, and left snow in the road making it impassable for over an hour. In January 2025, a prospective customer said they were asked for a lot of information before anyone would speak with them and then received a short "we're not a good fit for this project" with nothing further.
If you want one contractor holding a multi-trade remodel or addition together, that is what most of these accounts describe. Ask how their intake works before you invest time in it, and if you are hiring the snow and ice division for a property, get plowing scope and response times written into the agreement before winter.

We did not have to manage or coordinate anything. William and his team helped us transform our property, and he always made time to answer our questions or concerns. The crew worked incredibly hard. They were perfectionists, arriving on time every day, and leaving the site clean every night. We had a fantastic experience from start to finish and get compliments on our landscaping all the time! Provost? Not a pro at all, apparently you’re the snow removal vendor at Pembroke Woods in Pembroke MA. You did an absolutely terrible job, left extremely unsafe conditions, and did not plow any handicap spots. You left snow in the road making it impassable for over an hour and piling snow in the road that’s still there right now. I am so utterly disappointed in this place. Stay away from their so called “snow removal” because all they did is move it around and make a mess.
We worked with Provost to tackle a handful of items in our new house, but most of the work was centered around a kitchen renovation. Bill was a good contractor - communicative and regularly checked in on progress. The crew was great and very respectful of the house and friendly with myself, my wife, and our dog, which always helps when you have a project that takes a few months. We had a few errors in communication/mixups during the course of the reno (nearly a guarantee for large projects regardless of who you work with) and all of them were handled pretty well. And here we are, a couple years later, and the quality of the work is still holding strong.
