Boilers in winter and water heaters that quit overnight — that is the shape of Puleo Plumbing & Heating's work, and across 211 permits the town of Marblehead has seen most of it. Scott Puleo runs it out of Marblehead, and the permit trail is dense and current: 58 jobs in the last three years, 31 of them in 2024, at a typical value around $5,000. Boiler replacements on Driftwood Rd, Lime St and Davis Rd. Gas piping for a generator and for an outdoor grill. Kitchen and bath work on Ocean Ave. Salem, Danvers and Topsfield turn up too, and one Danvers boiler job is filed as commercial. What customers wrote is consistent — and all of it is old. Twenty-one reviews across Angi and HomeAdvisor average 4.6, running from March 2008 to July 2020, with nothing written since. The recurring note is speed and no surprises. In a June 2016 review a homeowner said that 24 hours after the first phone call with Josh there was a new direct-vent water heater in, the old leaking one hauled away, no surprise costs, and a return visit to caulk a vent cap they had noticed was missed. A July 2020 customer valued not being asked for a deposit well ahead of the installation, the way two other companies had — they paid nothing until the job was mostly done. In June 2010 another described the crew on site within four hours and finished within six, working around an old house perched on a ledge, at exactly the price quoted. The complaints are few and specific. In December 2010 a customer wrote a one-star account: after a faucet they had bought online began dripping, they say Puleo declined to look at it and repeatedly insisted the fixture came from Home Depot when it had not. In November 2017 a homeowner called the job good but "a little too expensive", and in June 2011 another noted an hour's delay caused by the job before theirs. One thing to check yourself. BuildZoom lists three Massachusetts licence records and marks every one "License Not Verified" while printing each as active against an expiry date that has already passed — a plumber's licence, 15342, expiring May 2024; a plumbing business licence, 3209, expiring May 2026; and an untyped Consumer Affairs record, 30133, expiring May 2016. That is a directory contradicting itself rather than evidence either way, so confirm the current plumbing licence with the state before booking. BBB rates the business A+ while stating it is not BBB accredited — two separate facts. A sensible call for a Marblehead boiler, water heater or gas-fitting job from someone working the town constantly. Just know you are leaning on permits, because no customer has written anything in six years.

Excellent work and really nice people. And they didn't want me to make a deposit well in advance of the installation as two other companies wanted. I didn't pay a penny until the installation was mostly done.

They were fast and super nice. I was really in a bind and they were very professional. Quality of service was excellent. Very happy I went with them over one of the big national stores!
