Wright Plumbing & Heating, run by Dan (Daniel) Wright out of Salem, holds a state-verified active Massachusetts plumbing license under his name. On Google it carries a 5-star average across 427 ratings, built on 394 reviews since 2021, one of the deepest and steadiest records in the corpus. It's also the name that comes up again and again in Salem-area Reddit threads asking for a plumber recommendation. Dan takes on the technical and the old-house-specific alike. He's replaced drain pipes and washer hoses and rebuilt a shower valve for one customer, who expected the shower repair to run $1,000 and got a $250 fix instead; installed a PRV valve and Phyn Plus monitor to stabilize another home's water pressure; and untangled a rust-welded washer supply valve that had defeated the homeowner's own repair attempts. Customers with pre-1900s houses mention him by name for exactly that reason, one has used him for 10 years managing an 1850s house's reversed hot-and-cold plumbing, another for an 1870s fixer-upper's toilet and an unusual outdoor spigot setup. The Reddit record backs this up. In a 2025 post, a customer described calling with an emergency sewer issue and Dan showing up the next morning at 7:45am, giving an honest assessment, and initially refusing payment. Recommendation threads in r/SalemMA and r/northshore have pointed to Wright Plumbing repeatedly since at least 2024. The one blemish is a 2023 review describing a promised 20-to-30-minute callback that took 17 hours, with the reviewer noting the business isn't actually open 24/7 despite marketing that suggests otherwise. Nothing like it appears in the past six months. For plumbing in Salem and nearby, especially older housing stock, Wright Plumbing has an unusually deep and consistent record.
“For plumbing we use Dan Wright in Salem.”
“Daniel Wright in Salem is excellent”
“Great plumber, replaced a bunch of valves around my house. He was 1/2 the price of Cranney.”
“Yes! Great plumber and always responsive.”
“+1 for Danny! He was very encouraging of my attempt to replace the wax seal on my toilet myself (though it turned out to be a much bigger problem that he came and fixed).”
Easy to work with, fair price, clean, and good communication.
Excellent experience with Wright Plumbing, had the best out of three quotes, was able to come in just a couple days, and finished the work quickly!
Danny is amazing! We’ve had to call on him twice during emergencies and he did a great job resolving the root issue. Super responsive, courteous and charges a fair price. We will def be calling Wright Plumbing & Heating for all our future needs!
I've been using Wright Plumbing for 10 years and I recommend them to everyone I know. They are quick to respond and have been able to adjust to the weird quirks of my 1850's house turned condo (iykyk, this last visit we found out that my hot and cold water pipes are reversed). The work is always great and the prices are reasonable. I will give them 5 stars every time!
Absolutely excellent communication, and service. Repaired a few items in my home — same day — within hours of me calling. I will always be a repeat customer :-)
