Puleo Plumbing & Heating has pulled 211 permits out of a Marblehead PO box — boilers, tankless water heaters, gas lines, kitchen and bath repipes — but its written customer record stopped in 2020. Scott C. Puleo is listed as the owner, and the reviews that exist run 2008 to 2020 across Angi and HomeAdvisor, averaging 4.6 from 21 accounts. The recurring theme in them is speed and no surprises on price. A 2016 reviewer described calling on a Tuesday and having a direct-vent water heater installed within 24 hours, with the old leaking unit hauled away and no added costs; when the crew forgot to caulk the exterior vent cap, they came straight back. A 2020 customer who had a gas boiler put in for $17,300 noted that unlike two other companies bidding the job, Puleo asked for nothing up front — no money changed hands until the installation was nearly finished. A 2010 review described a job on an old house perched on a ledge finished in six hours at exactly the quoted price. The money side is where the reviews split. Several praised reasonable rates; a 2017 customer wrote 'good job, nice people, just a little too expensive.' One complaint is worth reading in full before calling. In December 2010, a customer who supplied their own online-bought faucet said it began dripping days after installation, and that when they called, Puleo declined to look at it and repeatedly insisted the part came from Home Depot — which the customer said was untrue. That is a 15-year-old account and the only negative on file, but it is specific, and it is about how the company handled a callback on customer-supplied parts. Ask up front what happens if a fixture you buy yourself fails. The licence picture is unresolved. BuildZoom lists three Massachusetts records against the company — a Plumber licence #15342 last checked with a May 2024 expiration, a Plumbing Business registration #3209 showing May 2026, and a third, #30133, with no trade stated and a May 2016 date — and marks every one of them 'License Not Verified'. None was confirmed against the state registry here. Who this is for: a Marblehead or North Shore homeowner needing a boiler, water heater or gas line from a shop with a long, documented local permit history. Two things to settle first — get the current plumbing licence number and check it yourself with the Commonwealth, and ask for recent references, because nothing written in the last six years describes how the work goes now.

Excellent work and really nice people. And they didn't want me to make a deposit well in advance of the installation as two other companies wanted. I didn't pay a penny until the installation was mostly done.
