One of my favorite arches, it was definitely a fun one to build as well.

Came across this in the camera roll from many years back, a fieldstone fireplace with firebrick laid in a unique Flemish bond pattern and a one piece salvaged granite hearth.

Another stone fireplace from many years back.

Here’s a Rumford Fireplace we built with a salvaged granite surround. The customer was concerned with his daughters allergies and asthma, and wanted a clean burning fireplace that would draw well and not have draft issues. Along with some other design considerations, like fitting an exterior fireplace on the back with limited space, the Rumford with a gasketed damper worked perfect. The simple fireplace surround idea was inspired by a fireplace the homeowner came across and fell in love with, and based on a photo, we were able to give them exactly what they desired. Mission accomplished!

Not everything we do is photogenic. Like this chimney shoring job for instance, is one of many times we have had the pleasure of doing something like this. This project required the chimney foundation in the basement to be removed to make room for the space to be converted into a two car garage. Working together with the GC, structural engineer, and structural steel contractor, we were able to remove the base of the chimney and transfer the 30’ of chimney onto a structural steel support system. We have done this many times over the years, on smaller and also much larger chimneys. We also install temporary shoring to create or modify masonry openings in masonry buildings, but more on that later.
