R. C. Shaw Sprinkler is a long-running Worcester fire-sprinkler contractor, also listed on Procore as covering HVAC, plumbing, and finish carpentry work, owned by Raymond C Shaw. Its Massachusetts HVAC-related license, held by Paul J Stanton, is registry-verified expired. Separately, BuildZoom's directory lists a pipefitter master license under a related number as active, but BuildZoom itself says it hasn't checked that listing since January 2010, so it isn't current information. There's very little written history to go on — a single detailed review, from February 2024, describes a customer of more than 15 years who was billed $475 for a 15-minute annual sprinkler inspection and said the explanation they got when they questioned the charge didn't hold up. It's the only account on file, but it's specific and comes from a long-standing client, which makes it worth asking directly about billing before scheduling service. Better Business Bureau grades the company A+, though it isn't accredited. Given the expired license and the thin, negative review history, get a firm, itemized quote in writing and confirm current licensing directly with the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety before hiring.
Shocked!! 15 + years of doing business with them and I never would have imagined this ending. I'll get right to the point....Called for the annual inspection, tech was here 15 minutes, bill was $475. Called to inquire about it and I was told that even though the bill says they did the testing, they couldn't because it was too cold but would return in the spring to do it. I asked to speak to the person in charge and never heard from them but did get an email with an updated invoice for about $200. Seemed weird no one called so started to check the inspection they did say they performed. I called back and set up a meeting with the service manager Todd. Here's the crazy part - Todd shows up, admits the inspection report was also falsified, and the answer was " RC Shaw may not be the right vendor for us"... I asked why and he repeated the same again. THEN IT CLICKED FOR ME. I asked "why? because we don't want to ripped off?" HE looked around, saw the closest door and asked if he could leave. The best part... I called the office and aked to speak to the owner about Todd. Ready??? Ready??? I was told he was the owner. I wish it was an apology and move forward but my opinion is once he knew he couldn't rip his customer off, he had no use for them. Hope this post helps others!!
