R. Sasso & Sons Construction is a Revere excavation and paving outfit the company says has stayed in the same family since 1963, when Robert J. Sasso founded it; today it's run by the third generation, Robert J. Sasso III and Peter Sasso. Local news coverage adds that a Robert Sasso studied civil engineering at Wentworth College, joined his father in the business at 20, and eventually took over R. Sasso & Sons himself, running it for 38 years. Customers call the crew for ground-up work — driveway replacements, water-line repairs, demolition, site excavation — mostly around Revere and the Boston-area and North Shore towns the company lists as its service area. What comes through in the reviews is speed with excavation work. One homeowner's main water pipe burst; the company had an estimate out immediately, pulled the permit, and finished digging out and repairing the asphalt in two days. Another had a driveway and sidewalk redone — excavated a full foot down, regraded with gravel, and finished with two layers of asphalt — work a reviewer who said they'd seen plenty of construction rated highly. A longtime Houzz customer, who'd hired the company for several projects including a 2019 driveway install, called out its excavation work specifically. All three reviews on file, across Google and Houzz, are five stars. A couple of things are worth asking about before booking. The company's Better Business Bureau profile is a B-, not accredited, docked for failing to respond to one complaint on file. BuildZoom's listing also shows no active license currently on file for the business, though its own permit records there run back to 2003 and 2012 — that's BuildZoom's read, not a state registry check, so it's worth confirming current licensing directly. For excavation, driveway paving and concrete work around Revere, this is a long-running family crew whose few reviews run five stars across the board — confirm licensing and ask about that open BBB complaint before signing anything.

My wife and I hired Robert and Peter Sasso to replace my old driveway and sidewalk. They weren’t as cheap as a few other estimates I received but they ensured me that they would dig out my driveway 1ft. They added gravel and two layers of asphalt. I’ve been around a lot of construction crews and these brothers came prepared with permits, insurances, and tools. I recommend them to anyone and everyone. Very professional and my driveway and sidewalk looks phenomenal!! 10/10
I had an emergency main water pipe burst. I contacted Robert for an estimate. The job required excavation and repair of asphalt. He was amazing, got me the estimate immediately, pulled the permit and finished the job within two days. I would highly recommend him for any excavation and or asphalt needs.
This company focuses on the heavy-lifting projects that typically have a homeowner scratching their head thinking "Who do I hire for that??" I've used them for a few projects over these past few years, all of them required excavating. In 2019 they put in a driveway for me, excavating into a bank and creating a gentle slope up to my sideyard. They landscaped and terraced with stone blocks to match what I had along the front of the house. They dialed into the existing work seamlessly. Most recently with a new house we bought, they replaced a 12' section of ancient clay sewer main down by the sidewalk where there was a partial collapse. They excavated carefully in between a gas main and a water main to get to where the sewer line was. It stuns me how surgically they did this using a small excavator. While we had it all exposed and cut open, a drain company was able to come and hydro-jet sweep rubble and stones out of the rest of the line. Sasso then filled in the hole, and relaid the sidewalk that had to be removed to do the work. They do excavation, landscaping, major plumbing (I'm talking sewer main stuff, not hooking up your kitchen sink), paving, masonry, concrete, asphalt, and they are bonded with most towns in the area to do work that ties in with municipal systems. Rob the owner is easy to work with, he gives you the impression that he's done it all, seen it all, this is not a big deal, and his pricing so far has been very fair. I also note that typically they can come do a job within days of preparing an estimate.
