A customer who spent 15 years as a general contractor himself watched Roberto's crew rebuild his garage stairs for a new car in June 2026 — long days, a clean site — and wrote that he can be a tough critic on quality. That is a useful thing to know about a small Andover outfit whose best work is decks, stairs and carpentry. RCS Carpentry & Painting is run personally by Roberto Macedo and describes itself as family-owned: residential and commercial painting, carpentry built around new doors and windows, cabinet painting, kitchen and bathroom remodelling, deck work, power washing, drywall texturing and tile. Outdoor structures carry the most detail. In July 2025 a run-down rooftop deck was rebuilt into usable space on a rubber roof, to requirements the owner called challenging. A January 2026 customer listed a deck, an exterior staircase and a finished basement across several jobs with him. In May 2026 a deck was repaired and repainted. Smaller work gets the same handling: an April 2026 job full of unknowns that the crew adapted to as it went, and a June 2026 basement finished off using materials the homeowner already had, turned around quickly. Two things to settle before hiring. Neither the company's website nor its BBB page gives a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration number, and this is deck and remodelling work rather than painting alone — so ask for the registration and an insurance certificate. And the testimonials on the site are not reviews: first names, role labels, no dates, no platform behind them. The dated Google accounts are the ones you can check. The Better Business Bureau opened its file in February 2022, does not accredit the business, and lists it as Not Rated because it lacks enough information to grade it — a gap in their data rather than a mark against the work. Google shows a 5.0 average across 10 ratings. For a deck, an exterior staircase, or carpentry where the details have to be worked out on the fly, this is a small crew with the owner on site. Get the registration number, the insurance certificate and the scope in writing before anyone starts.
I had a great experience with Roberto. He was able to help me finish up a basement project with items I already had and a quick turnaround. Highly recommend working with him if you need someone handy!
Roberto and his guys rebuilt our garage stairs that needed to be reworked for a new car. They put in long days to get it done fast, they were clean and respectful of our property. I was a GC for 15 years so I can be a tough critic on quality. That said - the quality of the work is great - we’re thrilled. I’m happy to have found Roberto and I know we’ll be using him again for something in the future.
Hired RCS to paint and repair outside deck. Did an outstanding job. The deck looks great. And his crew very professional. Thanks.
I had a smaller but very specialized job that had a bunch of unknowns and they were able to adapt to make sure that the carpentry work came out great.
Roberto is the consummate professional. He's timely, responsive, thorough, and great to work with. I can't recommend him highly enough! He's done fantastic work for me: a beautiful deck, an exterior staircase, and finished basement. RCS is a great company to work with.
