RE/MAX Bentley's — formerly Bentley's Real Estate before its December 2023 rebrand under The RE/MAX Collection luxury division — is a Newburyport brokerage co-founded in 2016 by Robert Bentley and Alissa Christie that has ranked as Greater Newburyport's number-one office by MLSPIN sales data since 2019, now with more than 60 agents. It carries a BBB A+ grade. Like many large multi-agent brokerages, the written record here splits along agent lines. Several reviewers describe strong, specific experiences with individual agents: one first-time buyer credited her agent with positioning an offer to win among more than ten competing bids, another praised Kristen for going above and beyond in a challenging market, and reviewers across 2021-2024 name Chris, Louise Murphy, Josiah Lilly, and Danielle Murphy for knowledgeable, responsive service on both buy-side and sell-side transactions. But the negative accounts here are also specific and recent, not generic complaints. A 2026 reviewer described agreeing to let their agent serve as a dual agent — representing both sides of the deal — and called the resulting transaction "a mess," saying they'd never do it again. Another 2026 reviewer named an agent specifically, describing her as very difficult to work with while she was personally selling her own home and unwilling to accommodate the buyer. A 2025 reviewer raised a professionalism concern about an agent's social media content. An older, 2022 review described a confusing open house experience where visitors were told an offer had already been accepted. Given how much the experience here appears to depend on which agent a client works with — and that two of the last four reviews describe real, specific problems, including one about dual agency — this is a case where it's worth asking directly about an agent's approach to representation before signing, and being cautious about agreeing to dual agency specifically.

Purchased a home and Bentley's was involved. It was a mess and the agent involved was at the center of much of it. They suggested serving as a dual agent and we agreed thinking it would speed up the transaction and help us reach an acceptable deal. Lesson learned never to do that again. We consulted independent real estate attorneys and an Engel & Volkers branch executive I know personally as things went off the rails and those independent experts agreed Bentley's did not act as they should have and failed us in multiple ways (E&V stated unequivocally that they don't serve as dual agents due to the legal and ethical issues associated with that arrangement). Next time we buy or sell, you can be sure we won't be going with Bentley's and I'd suggest the same for you too.
I used Bentley’s as a first time homebuyer and highly recommend to others. They made me feel heard and understood throughout the process, explaining each step along the way and positioning my offer to be accepted among 10+ other offers. Couldn’t be happier with my Realtor. Her professionalism and eagerness to go above and beyond was evident.
We had an excellent experience working with Bentley's from start to finish. Their knowledge of the North Shore market, attention to detail, and responsiveness made the entire process smooth and stress-free. They took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for and provided thoughtful guidance every step of the way. Thank you Bentley's, we love our new home!
If I could give NO STARS, I would. My purpose to write this review is to make other buyers/sellers aware, NOT to choose Lauren as your Realtor. Lauren was selling her personal home and VERY HARD to work with. Her only interest was her own and would NOT accommodate the buyer AT ALL. She left furniture behind on the sidewalk, left curtains on the windows, used paint in the garage, dishes in cabinets and trash in a FILTHY barrel under the kitchen cabinet. We specifically requested we wanted the property delivered EMPTY! Isn't this normal practice? Why should the new owner clean out YOUR personal items? After the closing, she trespassed on the property, AFTER no longer having possession, for her own benefit. She reinstalled her sign for free advertising, after we removed it, and then she told my REALTOR "we had to leave it." Excuse me? You need to ask PERMISSION from the new owner, in case you forgot as a Realtor. She further was deceptive, by removing agreed upon equipment in the P & S and replaced it with "dummy equipment". Do your self a favor and take your business ELSEWHERE. Lauren needs to be retrained on professionalism and proper etiquette.
Teach your agents that one of THE most important things about being a professional is how you appear, physically, and on social media. I’m sure future clients wouldn’t appreciate degrading women on social media with their professional info in their bio.
