Real Dry Waterproofing is a family-owned basement and crawl-space waterproofing contractor based in Hanover, working across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. It specializes in French drains, sump pumps, crack repair, and foundation wall reconstruction, and its site says it's been in business 40 years, describing itself as a New England fixture that has "never gone away." It also lists Angie's List awards for six straight years, from 2012 through 2018. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration has since lapsed. Two older reviews describe strong, hands-on service: a 2024 customer says owner Curt Gunther personally assessed recurring basement water issues, built a tailored plan, and delivered exactly as promised with no surprises and a spotless job site; a 2021 review says the crew "saved" a flooded basement quickly and honestly. The most recent review on file, from May 2026, is a bare one-line "poor service, would not recommend" with no specifics given. Worth asking directly about current licensing status and getting a recent reference, given the mixed and thin recent record.

Poor service. I would not recommend.
We couldn’t be more thrilled with the exceptional work provided by Curt Gunther and his team at Real Dry Waterproofing. Curt personally came out to assess the recurring water issues in our basement. He took the time to understand the scope of the problem and developed a comprehensive solution tailored to our needs. His expertise and attention to detail gave us confidence right from the start. There were no surprises throughout the process—everything went exactly as Curt outlined. His team completed the project on time, treated our home as if it were their own, and left the space spotless. The professionalism and care they demonstrated were beyond impressive. The best part? The system WORKED! Just a week after Real Dry installed a state-of-the-art drain system and Pit Boss sump pump (with double redundancy, including a backup battery for power outages), our basement was put to the ultimate test. A bomb cyclone hit New England, bringing heavy rain, and our basement stayed completely dry. If I could give Curt and the Real Dry team more than five stars, I absolutely would. They exceeded our expectations in every way, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing basement waterproofing. Thank you, Real Dry, for giving us peace of mind!
These guys were great - and totally saved my mom’s flooded basement. They were honest and professional and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Couldn’t be happier!
