Real Dry Waterproofing works out of Hanover, MA, tackling wet basements and foundation problems — French drains, sump pumps, crack repair, wall reconstruction — for towns across the Boston area and the South Shore, out to Western Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. The company describes itself as family-run with about 40 years behind it, and it runs two contact lines, one for its Western Mass side and one for the eastern/South Shore side, which lines up with outside listings that also place a Real Dry location in Holyoke. Its actual review count is small. Google shows 4 stars from just 6 ratings, and outside directories don't agree with each other — Yahoo Local lists a perfect 5.0 across 3 reviews, while a review left on Google this year called the service "poor" and said the reviewer wouldn't recommend the company, without saying what went wrong. An older mention on Checkbook.org from 2016 described the owner, Curt, as efficient and cost-conscious on a job, and a contractor forum recounts him personally working out a multi-phase fix for a basement water problem — neither recent enough to say much about how the company operates today. The company's own site leans on seven straight Angie's List awards from 2012 through 2018, worth asking about since that run hasn't been refreshed in the years since, and no current Angi profile turned up to confirm standing today. This reads like a real, long-running basement and foundation outfit rather than a fly-by-night one, but with only a handful of ratings and one unexplained bad one this year, it's worth asking direct questions about workmanship, getting a written scope, and confirming which office — Western or South Shore — will actually staff the job.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the exceptional work provided by Curt Gunther and his team at Real Dry Waterproofing. Curt personally came out to assess the recurring water issues in our basement. He took the time to understand the scope of the problem and developed a comprehensive solution tailored to our needs. His expertise and attention to detail gave us confidence right from the start. There were no surprises throughout the process—everything went exactly as Curt outlined. His team completed the project on time, treated our home as if it were their own, and left the space spotless. The professionalism and care they demonstrated were beyond impressive. The best part? The system WORKED! Just a week after Real Dry installed a state-of-the-art drain system and Pit Boss sump pump (with double redundancy, including a backup battery for power outages), our basement was put to the ultimate test. A bomb cyclone hit New England, bringing heavy rain, and our basement stayed completely dry. If I could give Curt and the Real Dry team more than five stars, I absolutely would. They exceeded our expectations in every way, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing basement waterproofing. Thank you, Real Dry, for giving us peace of mind!

These guys were great - and totally saved my mom’s flooded basement. They were honest and professional and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Couldn’t be happier!
