The winter of 2015 is what most of this record is about. One homeowner wrote that year about three feet of snow, severe ice dams on five sections of roof and water coming in at two places, after a previous contractor quit on him having taken $300 — Robert Milliard Roofing was the shop that turned up. Another, whose kitchen ceiling caved in from an ice-dam leak, wrote that she called on a Saturday afternoon and Barbara, the office director, answered immediately. The Lowell business is a sole proprietorship on Gershom Avenue that BBB records as started in 2001 and grades A+ without accrediting it. Its Angi profile carries a 4.7 average from 122 ratings, 85% of them five stars, and HomeAdvisor mirrors the same record. The listed work runs from new roofs and slate repairs through chimney caps and repair, copper and shingles, gutters, snow guards and ice-dam removal. Every written account on file is a decade old, and the negative ones are specific. A 2013 customer called his chimney job a horrible experience, said he was weighing a BBB complaint or small claims, and itemized an inspection with the foreman that opened with no sign the shingles had been lifted to fit new flashing; the profile records the repointing as a thin scrub coat rather than ground-out joints. A 2014 customer wrote that a rubber roof was not done properly, that a return visit fixed the leak but left the wall and ceiling damage in place, and that water still puddled up top. In 2015 a third said ice dams were taken off by hammering, smashing and chipping, damaging shingles, at a price comparable to firms that use steam. The company's published replies to the two harshest reviews argue with the customers. Price surfaces in a milder way too: two 2015 reviewers called the company a little expensive while still recommending it. One mismatch worth a question: the Angi and HomeAdvisor profile claims ten employees and no subs, while BBB lists two. For storm damage, ice dams and roof leaks, the 2013-2016 accounts describe a shop that answers the phone — even on Thanksgiving Day, one 2013 customer noted — and cleans up when it leaves. For chimney masonry, the same record holds its sharpest complaint. Ask what they have roofed locally lately, and get the method for your job written into the contract before anyone starts.
We called several of the "Gold Star" roofers on the Angie's List website and they were the only roofers that came to our house to give us a price estimate. Of all the other roofers only one other even called us back. The rest never called. We were very disappointed with that. Robert Millard stayed in contact with us from the first call and was easy to contact throughout the whole project. Robert and his crew were all very. experienced, knowledgeable and easy to talk to and ask questions. Overall they did a great job. The only negative issue was with a chimney cap that we are trying to resolve. I would definitely use them again.
It went well They were on time and efficient As of now the work was good, I will provide a further review after the winter.
They made a fantastic job! Bob and his team arrived on time, finished on time, were very very courteous and nice tot talk with. The price was fair and they made the effort to come quickly before the weather is too cold to repoint the chimney. Bob explained me a few things about what he was doing and is fully comitted to deliver a quality job. I will recommend them to friends for sure.
Robert Milliard Roofing was a life saver. I had three feet of snow on my roof, severe ice-dams on 5 sections, and water leaking in two places. I had hired another contractor, but he quit before the job was complete (only after taking my $300). I couldn't get another contractor to return my calls. When Robert got my voicemail, he made time late one eventing to come by and inspect the damage. When he saw how bad it was, he made time to fit me into his busy schedule by working late nights and weekends. He did this not only once, but twice! I was very happy with the work Robert did. On two occasions, Robert and his crew completely removed all the snow and Ice from my roof. He could have easily had turned down this "extra" work (as many other contractors did), but he took the job because he knew how sorely it was needed. When other contractors would have easily taken advantage of this situation, Robert did a professional job and at a fair price. I will defiantly hire Robert Milliard Roofing again. I highly recommend them.
I've owned a home in Massachusetts for over 20 years, and I can say with confidence that this is the best contractor experience I have ever had regrading having work done on my house. Robert Milliard Roofing did a fantastic job. They met and/or exceeded all my expectations. The work was done on-time, to-estimate (which was very competitive), and the craftsmanship is excellent. Robert and his crew are very professional, courteous, and take pride in their work. I was especially impressed by how cleanly they keep the job site at the end of each day. When the work was done, Robert's crew completely removed all trash, nails, and debris left from my old roof. They even volunteered to removed some "extra" junk that was left behind by another contractor. During the job, one of our garden ornaments was damaged by a shingle falling from the roof. I had expected some "collateral damage" given how big a job the was so I was not upset. But, when my wife pointed this out to one of the workers, Robert went out of his way to find and purchase an exact replacement. Robert also when the "extra mile" to re-shingle my tool shed and woodshed because, in his works, "it looks better." If I should ever need additional work done on my roof, there is no other contractor I would call. I highly recommend Robert Milliard Roofing.
