Verified record
CAN Roof Construction is a Boston roofing outfit run by Nate, and the standout thing about its record is how little separates one review from the next — 119 reviews since 2019, the overwhelming majority five stars on Google, Houzz, Thumbtack and an A+ from the BBB, and the specifics repeat across years and neighborhoods rather than clustering in one burst. Emergency response comes up again and again. On a freezing weekend night with a ceiling leak, Nate, Adam and Rocky cleared snow and broke up ice dams in the dark and cold; in another account, a homeowner needed raccoon damage fixed before a stretch of rain and Rocky was on-site the next morning; a Friday leak brought two guys out within two hours when no one else could same-day it. This isn't a company that only does scheduled work — it answers when the roof is actively failing. The other recurring thread is a willingness to tell customers the cheaper truth. One review describes Nate suggesting a less-expensive handyman for a small job rather than selling a bigger fix; another describes him replacing a previous contractor's substandard rubber-roof patch rather than just working around it. A homeowner who called CAN back two years after an initial roof inspection to check on unrelated wall leaks got a free evaluation and was told the roof wasn't the cause. The crew shows up by name across the record — Nate and Rocky most often, joined at times by Andy and Adam — which suggests a stable core team rather than rotating subcontractors. Several reviewers mention hiring CAN again for a second project, or being referred after watching them work on a neighbor's house. The written record doesn't turn up a real complaint to weigh against any of this — the one review that isn't five stars still reads as satisfied ("job done right, happy customer" at four). CAN suits a homeowner who wants a roofer that also handles adjacent exterior work — gutters, skylights, ice dams, the occasional carpentry job — from a small, hands-on team that keeps showing up under the same names project after project.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from CAN Roof Construction. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

“Very responsive and easy to work with. They took care not to damage my landscaping during the tear-off. Highly recommend.”
Excellent craftsmanship and quick turnaround. They identified a number of issues, fixed it quickly, and dropped by multiple times to resolve follow up questions. Honest, reliable, and great customer service.
Nate and his crew came originally to repair the EDPM rubber roof under our top-floor deck last fall, which had developed a serious leak and had been poorly repaired in the past. They removed and replaced the earlier substandard repair, which essentially stopped the leaking. Important notes: when we originally called them, they visited and gave us an estimate with 24 hours, and the repair was quickly done. This was really appreciated. When their repair still leaked slightly, however, due to damage unreachable because of the deck, they offered to deduct the full cost of the repair from our eventual re-roofing. They returned this spring as soon as the weather permitted, carefully removing the deck, then they stripped the old rubber roof and cladding, repairing and replacing materials where needed. They properly reflashed everything with copper, installed the new roof, and replaced the deck. They sent us detailed photos of the whole job, and were easy to deal with throughout. We would hire them again, and have no hesitation in recommending them.
Wonderful to work with, super responsive and fast, very professional -- will absolutely call upon them again the next time I have a roof repair issue.
Hired CAN to do a flat rubber roof of a 3 decker in Hyde Park. They were extremely reasonable, communicative, and did great work. Highly recommend!
Great experience working with the team at CAN Roof Construction. I appreciated that they had a dedicated office admin that was always available to help with scheduling, and she coordinated the initial inspection within a day. Andy was great during the inspection, very informative, and I trusted he was giving us his true professional opinion and not trying to sell us on unnecessary repairs. Also small thing, but very courteous as a guest in our home (taking shoes off, kind to the cats, etc). Rocky and his team came for the repairs within two business days and the attention to detail was great. They took their time, and were communicative about everything they were doing. They also patched a few extra areas and didn't upcharge us for them! Highly recommend, and will definitely use this team when we have to do a full roof replacement in a few years.
