Rock Built Restoration, run by Andrew (with Brian), built its early reputation on insurance-referred flood and water-damage jobs β in 2017 and 2018 reviews, homeowners described adjusters steering them to the company after a leak or flood, quick quotes, and Andrew personally managing much of the insurance paperwork. A 2018 review credited him with a full kitchen-cabinetry redesign after a flood, praising a punctual, professional crew and calling the finished product 'beautiful'; a 2017 review said a basement remodel came in ahead of expectations on both quality and price. Not every account matches. A detailed 2017 review accuses Andrew of agreeing in writing to an insurance estimate on a $40,000 job, then pushing for cheaper materials and threatening a lawsuit when the customer pushed back β Andrew posted a public rebuttal that August disputing it. BuildZoom's licence listings for the company are also inconsistent: a Home Improvement Contractor registration is shown inactive and once cancelled, a separate Newton builder registration is marked both 'Active' and 'License Not Verified' with a 2023 expiration, and the page carries a standing alert that no active license is on file. The permit trail since has shifted: of 77 permitted projects, only a handful post-date 2019, and those recent ones are almost entirely blown-in cellulose insulation and air-sealing done through the Mass Save program rather than the restoration work the reviews describe β worth asking about directly if hiring for that older specialty today.
Water leak in the home $15,000 β I had a water leak in my home ... my insurance adjuster recommended them , he came out right away gave me a quote and the work started the next week .. he dealt with everything for me it was easy .. the job was done within a good time frame but overall I did have to take off a star for a few things that needed to be taken care of after the job was completed in my kitchen def would use them again if I ever need it
Kitchen Remodel $29 β My husband and I hired Andrew in the summer of 2018 for a kitchen remodel after flooding. The flooding was very overwhelming for a mother of four during a hot summer but ANdrew came out quickly and gave us a quote and the made the entire process less overwhelming. He helped us during the homeowners claim process and was very sympathetic and professional. Andrews team was always punctual, clean, polite, and professional. The finished product was just beautiful. I would definitely hire Andrew again for any home project.
kitchen β We had a flood in our kitchen and it ruined our cabinets and flooring. Andrew was able to give us a beautiful design for our cabinetry and give us the extra storage we needed as a growing family. Andrew was patient as we changed some specs along the way. There were a few issues with the custom cabinets that were beyond Andrews's control as the cabinets were made somewhere else. One of the counter-tops had the wrong measurements and also was made at another facility. Overall we appreciated every effort. Some things are not always in the control of the contractor. Andrew's workers were timely and accommodated our crazy pets running around them while working. The experience was good and if we build in the near future, I would definitely use Rock Built again. Thank you for our beautiful kitchen!!
Basement Remodel β My wife and I hired Rock Built Restoration (Andrew and Brian) for a basement remodel after some recent flooding. Andrew came highly recommended through several local business owners, insurance adjusters and friends. After touring some of Andrew's recent work at a neighbors house, we knew we had found the right contractor. Andrew was able to come by and give us an estimate quickly, and scheduled the work to be completed shortly there after. The work was completed swiftly and exceeded our expectation in both quality of work and price point. I would highly recommend Rock Built Restoration for your contracting needs.
$40,000 β Andrew is a swindler. Do not be fooled by his unassuming personality. I was referred to him for a restoration project. He agreed in writing to the insurance estimate, then proceeded to try to upcharge me and convince me to use the lowest quality materials so he could make an extra buck. Had to part ways with him, then he threatened to sue me for extra money he thought he was owed. Fortunately, I had his agreement to the estimate/work order in writing. The worst part - everything his team had touched was screwed up and needed to be redone by my new contractor. Avoid!
