Rodenhiser has been a Holliston fixture since 1928, and the fourth generation of the family — CEO Andy Rodenhiser — runs it now. It is the whole-house shop: plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical and remodeling across the Route 495/128 towns, from Framingham and Marlborough out to Concord, Needham and Newton.
What the customers who liked them describe is speed when something breaks. In a December 2020 review, a homeowner whose furnace quit had a technician on site within the hour, who found a failed igniter; in July 2020, another had central air replaced on short notice in the middle of a heatwave after a 17-year-old system died; a December 2019 caller with a broken pipe got a same-day appointment and a washing machine that stopped leaking. As that last customer put it, they are expensive, but they show up on time and there were never issues with the work.
Price is where the complaints land. A January 2021 reviewer called them very expensive for an easy job. In June 2022, a customer wrote that when the cost of replacement parts was explained to her, she felt they tried to take advantage of her as a woman. Its BBB page — an A+ accredited profile — carries three recent reviews, and all three are billing or pricing complaints.
One complaint is about the work itself, and it is serious. In a May 2023 Houzz review, a homeowner wrote that an AC system they had paid over $11,000 for failed soon after installation, and that the company told them the wiring had a chemical reaction between the copper and the insulation that caused pinhole leaks.
The platform averages sit well above that written history: 4.5 stars across 277 Angi ratings, 74 percent of them five-star, with the same profile mirrored on HomeAdvisor, and 4.8 across 41 ratings on Houzz. The most detailed written accounts, though, are from 2019 and 2020. Houzz lists a Master Plumber licence, #10961 — the same number the company's own site gives — along with NATE certification and EPA Lead Safe Firm status.
For the emergency calls — no heat in February, a burst pipe, a compressor that quits in August — this is a shop deep enough to answer the phone and get someone out. Settle the money before the truck rolls: get the quote in writing with parts priced out, and ask exactly what a maintenance plan charges and when it bills before you sign one.
