Ryan Holmes is a Lynn electrician with a long permit trail and one written account that a homeowner should read before calling. His Massachusetts electrician licence, number 53909, is active — confirmed against the state registry, held in his own name. Permits filed under that name run from 2015 to 2024 and stay firmly in residential electrical work: 200-amp service upgrades, kitchen and bathroom rewires, whole-house rewires and temporary services across Peabody, Danvers, Milton, Beverly, Methuen and Everett, plus a March 2022 job at 153 Atlantic Ave in Marblehead. One 2018 Danvers permit is commercial — wiring six stations in a salon. The written record is dated, and it is bad. The only review anyone has left, posted to Google in August 2019, is a single star: the customer alleges an employee took jewellery from their bedroom while nobody was in the room, and credits a security camera with catching it. That is an allegation about conduct inside a home rather than about workmanship, no reply appears alongside it, and nothing has been written since. Google's overall 3.7 comes from three ratings in total, so two other people scored him without writing anything — the number is thin in both directions. The licence paperwork on directories is a muddle, and the registry settles it. BuildZoom marks number 53909 'License Not Verified' with a July 2025 expiry, then lists the same number again as a City of Newton record that was at one point cancelled, alongside a cancelled Newton residential builder licence numbered 9622. The state registry says 53909 is active. Go with the registry. The permits say he does the work and gets it inspected, over ten years and eighteen jobs. Given the 2019 allegation and how little has been written since, ask who will actually be in the house, ask for two recent customers you can call, and plan to be home while the work happens.
