Sanford Temperature Control is the Milford shop people call when the heat quits on a February night, and the reviews read that way. A March 2026 customer with an emergency furnace failure said Derek diagnosed it quickly, had the parts on his truck, and had them back in business in under an hour — then took a moment to pat the dog. A restaurant owner writing in August 2025 described the AC dying on a Saturday morning ahead of a 45-person luncheon; the on-call technician called with an exact arrival time and was there within the hour. A May 2025 homeowner whose furnace stopped during a cold snap got a technician the same day. The volume behind that is unusual for a shop this size: 857 written reviews since 2021, fifty of them in the last six months with a single negative among them, and a 4.9 average across 1,904 Google ratings. The work stretches well past furnaces. Customers describe mini-split and heat pump installations — a one-ton ductless unit in July 2025 came with a gravel-and-paver mount built to the homeowner's specification — along with oil tank and furnace replacements, gas installation and repair (a 2023 reviewer described a neat clean-out modification added to the back of a Rinnai unit), propane water heaters, generator checks, and straight plumbing: a June 2025 customer had a faucet installed and a badly clogged drain cleared in one visit. They also come back to their own work. A June 2026 reviewer whose mini-splits were installed four years earlier said the lining was discounted when a problem surfaced and called the company fair about the resolution. Another that month, with three mini-splits from late 2025 and one room not cooling properly, had an appointment within a couple of days. Two things temper the picture, and both are about scheduling rather than the work. A March 2026 reviewer says the monthly service contract's "free" yearly furnace checkup kept getting bumped — twice pushed three months out, they say, while paid calls were answered in hours. A June 2026 customer who thought highly of the technician still found the annual appointment hard to book, and pointed at the front office rather than the tech. If you want one company for heating, cooling, gas and the occasional plumbing job, with a real chance of a same-day answer when something fails, the track record here is deep and current. If you are buying the maintenance plan, pin down when the included checkup actually gets scheduled and what happens if they need to move it.
“Sanford reached out to us again and dropped their quote to $18k, which was the cheapest. Install was solid, advice was sound, responsive on the phone to my questions.”
“I used to work in the industry. Heritage and Sanford are both owed by Private equity. Stay away from them unless you like overpaying for services. Lets add Milltown and Nashoba air and boiler works to that list. Joyce and Weatherbee are both legit.”
“Ive always had good experiences with Stanford, didn't realize they were bought out though”
Scott oversaw the successful installation of our air conditioning unit replacement. The work was excellent and job site left clean and no real interruptions to our day. Would recommend their services
Friendly and explained what the problem was, and told us what was needed to be done.
Very professional and knowledgeable in regards to general gas installation and repairs.
He called before he arrived. He kept me informed for his progress. He was polite.
Zach arrived on time, introduced himself, gave an honest estimate, executed the work the way we agreed to, and was on his way. Professional, efficient, articulate, and pleasant to work with. A+
