Eleven years apart, two customers wrote nearly the same sentence about Andy Sargent: he shows up when he says he will. Sargent Plumbing & Heating is a three-person shop on Dennison Street in Gloucester, trading since 2010 and working Cape Ann and the near North Shore — Rockport, Essex, Manchester, Ipswich, Beverly Cove, Prides Crossing, South Hamilton. The service list is full residential plumbing plus hydronic and radiant heating: water heaters and tankless units, sewer lines and water mains, sump pumps, leak detection, frozen pipes, water softeners. What the reviews keep describing is response speed and a long memory. In January 2025 a customer had a hot water heater replaced within 24 hours along with a bathroom shut-off valve. In August 2014 a homeowner with tenants in the house and a leaking dishwasher that had caused water and structural damage wrote that Andy responded within hours and rearranged his schedule to fit the replacement in the next morning. A September 2014 review recounts a full condo plumbing and heating rebuild after a gut demolition — and a neighbour's toilet fixed free of charge when that neighbour blamed the work. A June 2014 customer whose water tank failed found he still had the receipt on file from eleven years earlier; the replacement was covered by warranty. And in March 2020, after weeks of trying to find a plumber at all, a Google reviewer wrote simply that Sargent answered the phone and kept them posted. Two things to weigh. The written history is dated: seven of the eight reviews were posted between 2014 and 2020, and only the January 2025 water-heater note is newer. And the licence. Houzz shows licence number 12589 for the company, but checked against the Massachusetts registry, plumber licence 12589-PL-A is expired and its holder of record is a different person entirely. That number confirms nothing here. Ask Andy Sargent for his own master plumber number and look it up with the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters before he starts. For a water heater, a leak or a heating system on Cape Ann, the accounts on file are unusually specific and consistent about follow-through. Settle the licence question first and you are on solid ground.
