Ask around Haverhill about Sean's Auto Repair & Sales and two words keep coming back: honest and fair. A July reviewer put it plainly — the shop "did not try and say more work was needed." A Spanish-language review in May says the same thing another way: they don't add work to your car if it doesn't need it. The history behind that is deep. Google shows 4.8 across 218 ratings, and 113 written reviews going back to 2021 across four sources, 41 of them in the last six months alone. Customers describe long relationships — one has been coming for over ten years, another credits the shop with carrying their car past 200,000 miles, and one says they have been with the shop since it opened in Haverhill. Diagnosis is what people actually praise. In May, a driver who had chased an overheating problem for a long time said Sean found it in one visit and explained the cause without guessing. In April, another brought in a car that would not start after a Kia dealership had already charged for repairs that did not fix it. A March reviewer lists a decade of bigger jobs there — exhaust work, brakes, a gas leak. Routine work runs through the same bay: oil changes, an AC replacement, general diagnostics, and used-car sales, with one customer saying the shop checked a used car over before selling it to them. Two 1-star reviews landed in that same recent window, and both are worth reading first. In June, a customer whose first oil change went fine said the conversation changed between the phone call and drop-off, and disputed a $400 diagnostic charge on a problem they said had already been identified; they called ten other shops and found none quoting that. In March, another said the owner talked down to them and described the lot as run down. For everyday repair and maintenance in Haverhill, this is a shop with a long, consistent track record and customers who stay for years. Before you leave the car, get the diagnostic fee and exactly what it covers in writing — that is where the one substantive complaint sits. Worth knowing too: this is a vehicle repair shop and used-car dealer, not a home-services contractor.
