SJA Construction is a Tewksbury handyman operation reviewers keep calling back for the odd jobs that pile up after a move or a repair no one else got right — reassembling bookcases, releveling a custom bookshelf, or matching century-old trim. Steve Arsenault runs it with his son, and Angi lists the company at 26 years of experience. The written record, though not long, is consistently detailed. A 2026 reviewer described Steve straightening out a mess left by movers — reassembling about 50 boxes' worth of bookcases and a desk, then coming back the next day to hang a mirror and shower poles. Another, in March 2026, hired Stephen to build a custom bookshelf around crooked floors and walls, calling the result "beautiful, sturdy, and an exact match" to what she had in mind. In a 2020 review, a homeowner said Steve called back the same day a request went out on Handy.com, came by that night to look at the job, and had a full pool-deck resurface finished four days later, beating every other estimate. And in a 2019 review, another described Steve matching new fascia trim to a house built in the late 1800s after squirrel and woodpecker damage — close enough, the reviewer said, that you'd have to know where to look to see the repair. Angi puts the company at 4.9 stars across 44 reviews and lists free estimates. BuildZoom lists an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration for the company (#153250, issued October 2025). For a homeowner with a list of small-to-medium repairs — furniture, trim, decks, the odd custom build — SJA is worth a call; confirm current scheduling and get a quote for the specific job before booking.

I had an appointment with Steve, the owner’s son. He did a magnificent job of straightening out the mess my less than stellar movers left behind. That meant moving about 50 boxes of books and files in order to reassemble bookcases and a file drawer/desk combination. And all that was just the beginning. Steve is tireless, reliable, considerate. I asked him to come back the next day to hang a heavy bureau mirror, shower poles, and help with other tasks. I’m older and was feeling defeated until Steve created some much needed order. I’m putting my Super Handyman on speed dial.
SJA Construction is the best! Steve Arsenault and his son have done several jobs for me. Most recently they repaired a shower that I have not been able to use for some time. They quickly assessed the situation and provided me with a solution that no one had in the past at a reasonable cost. Steve is now my "go to" person when it comes to home repairs and referrals. He is prompt, responds quickly, shows up when he says he will, and does a great job. On top of that, he and son are professional and very nice. You can't go wrong!!
Stephen was a pleasure to work with. I hired Stephen to help me build a custom bookshelf. We consulted in person and on the phone in advance of installation day; he picked up the materials I sourced at the hardwood supply store in his truck and brought all the tools and hardware needed. He spent time ensuring the unit was level and flush to my very crooked floors and walls, and the result is beautiful, sturdy, and an exact match to my vision.
Steve runs a great team. He was super responsive. The day I posted my request online with Handy.com , Steve called me back and actually came to the house that same night to review what needed to be done. He beat all other estimates and performed the work (replace entire pool deck surface) just four days later. Can t beat that!
Steve repaired the fascia where a squirrel had chewed through on a corner of the porch. This is an older home so there was an issue of matching the new fascia with the old one from the late 1800s. In addition, the fascia on an area in the front of the house had come loose, probably from when the roof was recently replaced. Steve addressed both issues and one would have to know the areas replaced to notice the minute difference. He also fixed several areas where woodpeckers had made holes along the roof line as well as an issue with the porch railing which would have caused future problems if left unattended. All in all a very satisfactory experience. So glad we found him. Would certainly recommend him.
