Smokestack Lightning Inc. describes itself on its website as a family-run business that specializes in lightning protection, and says it has been in business for 33 years. A BuildZoom profile under the name Smokestack Lighting Chimney Services Inc describes chimney cleaning, maintenance and repair for residential clients in Brookfield and surrounding communities. In a 2017 BuildZoom review, a customer said a small fire contained inside the fireplace had left a 2 1/2 foot crack inside the chimney and damaged the outside cap. That 2017 customer said the job was to repair the internal crack, reline the entire chimney walls and replace the outside cap, and that the company arrived on time and completed the job in accordance with the appraisal. At the appraisal, the 2017 reviewer said, the company took an internal video of the damage and a picture of the damaged cap and shared them so the customer could pass them along to the insurance company. The same 2017 customer said 50% of the contract price was paid up front so materials could be ordered and permits secured, with the other 50% due at completion; the customer held that payment until the town inspector's sign-off came about a week later. A 2023 Google reviewer described the people at Smokestack Lightning as professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

I encountered nothing but very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly people with my interactions with Smokestack Lightning. Highly recommended company
I was referred to Smokestack Lightning through Duxbury Chimney Sweep in Duxbury with whom I had done business with since I bought the house in 1987. I believe Smokestack bought Duxbury Chimney Sweep. They did a great job, arrived on time and completed the job in accordance with the appraisal. When they came to do the appraisal they took an internal video of the damage as well as a picture of the damaged cap and shared that with me so I could pass along to the insurance company for claims purposes. The scope of the job was to repair an internal crack, reline the entire chimney walls and replace the outside cap. I had a small fire that was contained inside the fireplace which caused a long 2 1/2 foot crack inside the chimney and damaged the outside cap. Marshfield Fire Dept was on the scene. But again no other internal damage to my home. My damages were about $2600 . One thing I did want to mention is that I had to pay them 50% of the contract price up front so they can order the materials to complete the work and secure all necessary permits. That was not a problem. Then 50% is due when the job is complete, however, although they requested payment that day I withheld payment until I got the official sign off form from the Marshfield Building Town Inspector. Which was about a week later.
