Sound Energy Corporation sells and services fuel oil, heating and air conditioning, according to its BBB profile, where it holds an A+ grade. The company describes itself as family-owned and says it has been in business for 65 years. A recent Google customer had a split-system air conditioner fully removed and replaced at a higher capacity, with the new air handler set in the same attic spot, no dirt or scrapes on the walls, and the piping, duct and electrical work done as Walter had explained it. That customer added that the company services their boiler too. A 2026 customer, told by another local company that they needed a new furnace, said Sound Energy took the time to diagnose the situation and found no major issue. A 2022 customer said the company helped on a weekend when their condenser failed and had the problem fixed in no time. A 2025 r/StamfordCT commenter said they had been with Sound Energy for a long time and were very happy with the service. A 2025 commenter in r/StamfordCT called it a small local company and praised its HVAC techs. A 2021 customer left a one-star Google review calling the company rude and condescending, and said a different company later found over 3 feet of compacted soot and debris in the furnace chimney and flame settings that were incorrect.
“As far as sound energy goes, their techs are top notch. I would go with them if I had oil at my current house.”
“Sound Energy. Great service. Small local company. Their HVAC techs are the best.”
“Sound Energy. I’ve been with them for a long time. Very happy with their service.”
Team came in to fully remove and replace our split system AC. We uprated the capacity. Air handler removed from attick, new unit in same place. No dirt or scrapes to our walls. Piping, duct, electrical trades all performed as explained by Walter. Start up and programming tech was on point. Price was competative, no need to shop around. Sound services our boiler also. Great work.
I recently reached out to Sound Energy for a quote on a new furnace after another local company told me I needed one. Sound Energy responded quickly, took the time to actually diagnose the situation, and found there was no major issue at all. They could have easily sold me an expensive system I didn't need — but they didn't. That kind of honesty is rare and exactly the kind of company I want handling my home. Sound Energy has earned a loyal customer.
Sound Energy is a fantastic company to work with. They recently helped me on a weekend, the hottest of the summer, when my condenser failed. The guys were very response and had the problem fixed in no time. I would highly recommend Frazer and his team.
I would give zero stars if possible, but you have to give at least one to post a comment. Without question, the worst fuel company I have ever dealt with and you REALLY have to go overboard (good or bad) for me to bother to write a review. Lazy, rude, condescending, flippant, arrogant, indifferent are the appetizers. For the main course try incompetent with shady business practices bordering on criminal. I will skip dessert. After going through HELL and thinking no company could be this bad...it must be ME, I called in another service company. In 1 phone call, I found another local company that is so amazing that I could not believe I put up with Sound Energy's outrageous behavior for as long as I did. For starters, the new company came out and found over 3 feet of compacted soot and debris in the furnace chimney. Imagine how many years my annual cleaning was not done correctly. The entire system was not drafting through the chimney and the flame settings and adjustments were incorrect, making the system overwork and burn too hot, creating soot deposits and excessive oil consumption. One day and one new company later, it feels like a new heating system has been installed. Quiet, efficient, even heat. The entire house is actually warmer with the thermostat set LOWER and the oil is almost a dollar less per gallon. One town over?? All Sound Energy does is complain about how everything is YOUR fault. When you point out things that seem like they could be their fault, you are dismissed. Since I was unfailingly polite until I couldn't take it anymore, I have to assume that they first look up your property value, then base their level of service on the dollar amount they discover. From all of the glowing reviews from the hedge-funders on here, I have to assume that anything under 5 million gets "D-listed". Even though they probably send the same incompetent people to their homes, they probably get taken seriously when they call to complain. Beyond disgraceful.
