Sousa's Floors is a second-generation hardwood-flooring company in Sturbridge, with BBB listing Steven W. Sousa as owner and the business claiming 25 years in operation. Its work centers on sanding, refinishing, installation, repairs, prefinished hardwood, and luxury vinyl plank flooring across western and central Massachusetts. The strongest theme in the customer comments is floor restoration. In 2024, homeowners described 30-year-old hardwood made to look new and 50-year-old red oak and pine restored to an installed-floor appearance; a 2023 reviewer also called out responsive communication, timely work, and a major transformation. A 2023 homeowner who worked with wood said the preparation looked sound and described the price and quality as the best they found, while a 2022 review praised the team as personable, honest, professional, and fairly priced. There is one practical wrinkle to raise before booking: a 2022 customer praised the technical and artistic work but said repeated messages went unanswered when trying to hire the company again. Ask about the communication plan after the initial project and confirm the full finish schedule; one older review described a floor still awaiting additional coats and buffing. This looks like a good fit for homeowners seeking hardwood refinishing, repairs, or installation and who value careful surface preparation. Confirm the exact finish, number of coats, timing, and who will handle follow-up before work starts.
Sousa's Fine Floors did an amazing job re-finishing my hardwood floors--30 years old and they look brand new! Doug Sousa and his crew (Mike & James) were very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We are very happy with their work and highly recommend them!
Had a great experience working with Sousa's Fine Floors. They restored our 50 year old red oak and pine floors to look like they were just installed! Communication was excellent throughout the process and the crew who did the work was very professional. Highly recommend!
5 stars, can't say enough. I have been doing a lot of remodeling and can barely get companies to call me back let alone do a quality job for fair price. Steve was responsive and knowledgeable, work was done timely, craftsman ship was good. Our floors were a real transformation and I would recommend Sousa to anyone
Sousa's fine floors was both the best price and the best quality I could find. Note the "after" picture is after only one coat (I will update with final pictures), and it will be getting two more with buffing in between. As a woodworker myself I know a good prep job when I see one and I am absolutely certain this floor will be top quality by Saturday. The only reason I hired this out is I can't justify buying ten thousand dollars worth of equipment for one floor and I am very glad I did, there's no way I could equal his work or even approach it. This white oak floor was heavily damaged including cracking, cupping, spread seams, water staining, and solvent of some kind that had eaten the old finish completely off in one spot and stained the wood black. I would recommend Sousa's fine floors to anyone, no question.
Couldn't be more pleased with the work Sousa's Fine Floors did. Personable. honest. professional team and fairly priced.
