New Year's Day, no heat, and the only person who'd come out was Andrew Chesney — who then spent two or three hours hand-pumping frozen oil lines in a 40-degree basement until the boiler ran, and charged what the customer called a reasonable price. That 2021 review sets the tone for the rest of the file: this Londonderry shop is built around the call you make when the heat quits. The pattern repeats across the years. In February 2026 a boiler failed in a cold snap and the crew replaced the whole unit within hours. On a weekend in December 2025 a customer with a leak inside a wall was told the emergency hourly rate before anyone rolled, had a plumber there within the hour, and the leak was closed in under one. In April 2026 the owner arrived in fifteen minutes on a job another company had quoted far higher. Its New Hampshire plumbing licence, number 5080, is active in the state registry under Andrew M Chesney, and Google carries 4.9 stars across 458 ratings over 267 reviews since 2021. The day work is broader than emergencies. A June 2026 customer had the entire house repiped along with leak and drain work. In May 2026 a couple building an accessory dwelling unit had the plumbing, HVAC and electrical coordinated for them. Earlier jobs include a six-zone mini-split system, an oil tank replacement with the oil transferred over, a heat pump conversion where the crew showed the homeowner the cracks in the old propane furnace's heat exchanger before recommending they replace it, and — this August — a water treatment system for a house that turned out to have radon in the water. One March 2026 reviewer singled out something else worth noting: the technician explained the problem without talking down to her. The complaints are few and mostly about the office and the last ten percent of a job. A 2022 one-star reviewer says a baseboard install left a line on the furnace that leaked overnight into the basement, that a popping noise in the baseboard was never actually fixed across return visits, and that voicemails went unanswered. In June 2025 a two-star reviewer asked for an itemized bill on an $889 toilet installation, says the office was short about it, and says the bill did not match what they were told. Smaller notes: a 2025 technician went to the wrong address first and basement access wasn't flagged ahead of time, and another left a toilet handle loose after the repair. The right call for heat and hot water emergencies, boiler and mini-split work, and repiping. Ask for the itemized price and the emergency rate up front, and walk the finished job before the truck leaves.
“I use granite state mechanical services or southern new Hampshire plumbing and heating for a lot of work. Both are good and give fair prices”
I was referred to this company by a friend after moving into a house that was found to have radon in the water. Luckily, they were able to fit me into their busy schedule and install a water treatment system for us. From start to finish, they communicated clearly and kept me informed throughout the entire process. The technicians who installed the system were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and, most importantly, genuinely great people. Having technicians in and around my home and family, that is something I truly value. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable, knowledgeable, and professional water treatment services. I couldn’t be happier with the experience!
I've hired Southern NH Plumbing and Heating for several jobs, including replacing all of the plumbing piping in my house, fixing leaks, and clearing clogged drains. They are knowledgeable, reliable, and easy to work with. They arrive on time, explain the issue clearly, and describe the work they've performed. I've been very happy with the quality of their work and recommend them to others.
We worked with Chuck and Andrew on an Accessory Dwelling project. They helped make a pretty complicated project much easier- we had a bunch of plumbing, hvac, and electrical work that needed to happen, and they made it very easy for us. They're true professionals- they price fairly, communicate very well, and they're very organized. These guys would be my 1st choice for anything big or small that I have in the future!
Andrew is fantastic. Showed up in 15 minutes and fixed my problem and was very honest. Another company tried to charge me alot more. 100% would recommend
My oil burner was not functioning correctly. No base board heat. The technicians were able to very quickly diagnose the problem and fix it. The total repair time was much quicker than I expected.
