Two directories rate this Medford contractor and they don't come close to agreeing: BuildZoom gives it 3.0, Angi gives it 0.5. Both numbers rest on almost nothing, and understanding why matters more than either figure. Its credentials are solid and checkable: the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #161574 is active and held in the company's own name, and BuildZoom says it separately verified a construction supervisor licence, CS-103337, active as of July 2026. The permit record is the strongest evidence of what they actually do, and it runs to real structural work: a $73,185 Roxbury job building new exterior egress stairs and creating two kitchens and three bathrooms with a new fire alarm and sprinkler system, a $44,850 Brookline condo kitchen-and-laundry remodel, a $21,020 Newton garage conversion with EV charging, and a $4,736 Milton repair replacing termite-damaged first-floor joists and the main support beam on new footings. Twenty-three permitted projects in total. Now the ratings. Angi's 0.5 comes from four entries, only one of which carries a score — a December 2018 half-star for a multi-room renovation with no written comment at all. The other three are unrated recommendations from 2012 and 2013 praising kitchen work by 'Paul and Patrick', including a granite countertop, sink and disposal done in a single day. BuildZoom's 3.0 comes from two 2018 lead-feedback tags, and one of them is the thing worth asking about: a homeowner who considered them for a dormer addition marked them 'Stopped_responding'; the other, for a home addition, marked 'Good_communication'. So: a properly registered builder with a genuine structural-work permit history, whose public feedback is five items, all between 2012 and 2018, and includes an unexplained bottom-score rating and a responsiveness complaint. Nothing has been written about them in eight years. If you approach them, press for recent references on a job like yours and pin down who your point of contact is and how quickly they answer — that is precisely where the record wobbles.
