Suffolk Weatherization works out of Trident Street in East Boston, and its filed work is walls, attics, kneewalls, crawlspaces and basement ceilings — dense-pack cellulose, air sealing, the unglamorous envelope work that shows up on a heating bill rather than in a photo. The footprint is wide for a small operation. Permits run from Brookline and Chestnut Hill out to Malden, Belmont, Revere, Lowell, Maynard, Danvers, Byfield and Merrimac, with a July 2024 job at 10 Beach St in Marblehead covering walls, attic and crawlspace. Jobs are small and consistently priced: the typical permit runs about $5,427. Worth knowing what they are not. Directories file this company under HVAC and mechanical work, but its permit record is weatherization, not heating and cooling installation — if you need a furnace or a mini-split, this is the wrong call. No homeowner has written about them anywhere we could find; BuildZoom states it has received no reviews for the company. And on licensing, BuildZoom asserts that this contractor "does not need a license to be a contractor in Massachusetts" — that is the directory's own April 2023 claim, not a state confirmation, and the same page then muddles it by saying the company "currently holds license Not Required, which was Active when we last checked". Residential home improvement work in Massachusetts generally requires registration with the Office of Consumer Affairs, so ask for the registration number directly. A plausible call for an insulation or air-sealing job anywhere from Boston to the North Shore. Before booking, ask for their HIC registration number and confirm it with the state, and ask for two or three recent customers in your town.
