Summit Energy is a solar installer based in Mansfield. Its website lists residential and commercial solar, battery storage and EV charging, and says the company has been in business for 49 years. In a 2026 review, a homeowner who compared about a dozen companies chose Summit to install 15 panels and was happy with the service and the quality of the work, from the project team that helped finalize the scope to the crew that did the install. Another 2026 review, from March, says Summit delivered quality, on-time work with great efficiency, though that customer had to follow up once on permit updates. A June 2026 review found the install reasonably priced and timely, but a week later was still waiting for Summit to schedule the electrical inspection and had no follow-up call; only the salesperson was helpful. Two July 2026 reviews describe not being able to reach the company for service. One homeowner, whose panels came with the house, says the service line plays a recording and disconnects, that a representative said there were no technicians available and the company was facing bankruptcy, and that roofers traced roof and water damage to leaks at the lag bolt penetrations. The other says 10 days of calls, emails and service tickets went unanswered after the system was switched off for a panel upgrade, that Solar Insure said a 30-year extended warranty was never enrolled, and that the company's website says it was dissolved on 5/20/26. The company holds a D- grade from the BBB.

I purchased a home with a 45-panel solar system covered by a 20-25 year warranty, and issues began almost immediately. For the past 14 months, I have been going back and forth with Summit Energy trying to get the system repaired, but my electric bill remains extremely high every month despite having a fully-covered warranty. Reaching the company has become nearly impossible. When I call and select the option for the service department, the line plays a recording, beeps, and disconnects. I have documented this on multiple occasions, as well as recordings, I did advise the rep on the phone our calls are recorded. In addition to the panels not functioning properly, I have significant roof and water damage. Multiple roofing companies have independently assessed the damage and confirmed it was caused by the solar panel installation — specifically water leaking through the roof at the lag bolt penetrations. After finally reaching the panel manufacturer, I was told that Summit Energy, as the installer, needs to send a technician to run diagnostics and submit photos in order to process a warranty claim. When Summit Energy did call me back, I was told they have no technicians available, that the company can no longer afford to send techs, and that they are facing bankruptcy. I was told I would need to hire and pay a third-party company out of pocket to perform the required testing myself. When I asked to escalate the issue to management, the representative told me it would not help, as he had been directly instructed by management to tell customers there would be no service tickets, no claims processed, and no technicians dispatched due to the company's financial situation. Given the warranty I was sold, the ongoing property damage, and the company's refusal to honor its service obligations, I cannot recommend Summit Energy. If you are considering solar installation or a warranty transfer with this company, I strongly encourage you to research their current financial standing and service availability first.
I am extremely frustrated with Summit. As it seems to be a trend in these reviews, it is absolutely impossible to get a hold of anyone at this company. I had a panel upgrade done recently for an unrelated issue and my solar system had to be switched off in the process. I was told by the electrician that I needed to have the solar company come out to turn it back on. It has now been 10 days of phone calls, emails and service tickets with absolutely zero response. I’ve honestly had to double check to make sure they are still in business because I can’t believe a functioning company wouldn’t have some sort of response after 10 days. The service portion of their phone tree doesn’t even connect to an active number and there’s no way to leave a message. I can understand if a business is busy and it could take time to get out to my house, but straight up ignoring multiple attempts to contact your company for service is negligence. UPDATE: This company appears to be a scam. As part of my contract, I paid for a 30 year extended warrant through Solar Insure. A few weeks ago I received an email from Solar Insure stating "We regret to inform you that the Solar Insure monitoring and warranty product represented as part of your solar purchase through Summit Solar Solutions is not valid and is therefore void. Our records indicate that Summit Solar Solutions did not complete the required enrollment process or remit payment to Solar Insure for the monitoring and warranty product. As a result, the warranty was never enrolled with Solar Insure, and no coverage was established. Because the required enrollment and payment were not completed, Solar Insure has no obligations, responsibilities, or liabilities related to the monitoring and warranty product referenced in your agreement with Summit Solar Solutions." I still haven't been able to contact the company, and after doing some digging, the company was registered as an LLC in South Carolina and their website says the company was dissolved on 5/20/26, so looks like they took my money, never paid for the warranty and just pocketed it. I am sure I am not the only person in this situation, so if anyone else was ripped off by this company, I would recommend filing a complaint with the Massachusetts and South Carolina Attorney General's office.
I had the solar panels installed for a very reasonable cost and in an extremely timely manner. However, it's has been a week since they were installed. I'm still waiting for them to schedule with the NB electrical inspector. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in the lack of ongoing communication by Summit. I was never given a follow up phone call. The only point of contact I have is the sales person, who has been extremely helpful and advocating with getting ongoing communication established.
Was looking for a solar installer to install 15 panels. After discussing the project with probably a dozen companies, I selected Summit Energy. Best decision ever! I could not be more happy with service and quality of the work. Beginning with the project team that helped me finalize the scope of the work and double-check my plans to the crew that did the install...5 stars!
Summit delivered quality, on-time work with great efficiency. My only note is that I had to follow up once on permit updates, they are very busy which is understandable, these tax credits 30% run out at the end of this year!but overall I’m pleased with the results.” So if you’re looking for solar two options lease or buy but get it done soon before the Big beautiful bill takes effect! And if you refer a friend you get $100 for anyone who meets with Summit Energy and $500 if they get a system installed. I also had put a brand new roof and the workmanship was excellent! They do roofs also. Overall, I’ve had a very good experience with Summit Solar. The team has been responsive, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process. Whenever I’ve had questions, they’ve been quick to respond and helpful in getting me the information I need. The installation and system performance have been solid so far, and I’m happy with how everything is operating. Like with any large project, there are always details that come up along the way, but Summit has been attentive and willing to address questions as they arise. That level of support goes a long way. Overall, I’m very satisfied and would recommend them based on my experience so far.
