A client of mine had the unfortunate circumstance of frozen pipes. I had called 8 plumbers and spoke with a few. The first one advised me to "wait until Spring and hope for the best". The second one advised me to turn the boiler off (to prevent it from cracking), water main off and fill the house with space heaters to bring the temperature up (tried, failed as the electrical panel did not support this option). Tony from TC's returned my call that evening, spoke with myself and client for 17 minutes (after hours), advised us as to why the boiler would not break if we turned it on. He moved his next day morning appointment back to accommodate our emergency. Tony and his team were courteous, professional, neat and honest throughout the two hours they worked diligently to bring the temperature up, defrost the pipes and provided advice to move forward after he departed. Top Notch Professional all around!

Tony does a good job and is a nice guy for sure but I was VERY shocked by the price. Perhaps I should have checked beforehand but I didn’t know plumbers charged lawyer prices! The job was a fairly straightforward case of unblocking a pipe, i.e. they did not need to bring in any industrial machinery beyond the snake machine and they were not there more than 90 mins. And yet the bill was over $500. Is it normal in the US for a plumber to charge $500 for a job of this kind? By way of comparison, a plumber we booked to come out as an emergency on Christmas Day to fix and replace a broken pipe in the basement only cost $299. Be warned!
