The most memorable line in the recent reviews is about a Peloton: how the crew got it upstairs is still a mystery to the customer, and the piano came through fine too. On a local move, that is the usual story from Armstrong's Boston operation — which customers mostly know as Humboldt Storage & Moving — a coordinator who calls weeks out, then days out, then on the morning, and a crew that works fast and breaks nothing. The Armstrong Company started in 1957 as a family mover in Memphis and is now a national moving, storage and logistics firm with an office serving Boston out of Canton; the local agency is a United Van Lines affiliate. Its Google page holds 4.6★ across 233 ratings. Names carry the good reviews. Liz Correia turns up again and again as the person who keeps a move on rails; Keli and Bethany are credited for budgeting help and pre-move updates; Michelle for constant contact through a 2023 interstate job. The crews get named too — Jason and Ben handling a family piano in 2025, Fernando packing a 2024 move and then delivering it himself, the Samson and Baptista families packing an apartment in 2022. One 2024 customer booked at very short notice, had a video walk-through so the crew knew the layout, and said they arrived at the early end of the window and worked quicker than expected. Another came out of a full pack-and-move in 2024 with a single broken cup. The bad experiences are nearly all long-distance. In a 2022 review, a customer's belongings left Boston on June 9 and reached Atlanta on June 28 with a quarter of the shipment, the rest not arriving until July 12. A January 2025 customer moving to Georgia had delivery slip five days because the trailer needed repairs in Virginia. A July 2025 customer said the crew was three hours late to the pickup, late again at the new address, and left items behind that she had to drive to another state to collect. In late 2021, two customers described understaffed move-out crews and arrival dates sliding past the quoted window, one noting that the United Van Lines affiliation did not help. One thing to keep in mind while reading the five-star page: several of the warmest 2025 reviews come from other moving agents who book work through this office — one of them says he books over 500 moves a year — rather than from households that hired it themselves. For a local or in-state move, particularly one with a piano or a tight timeline, the coordinators here have a long record of keeping people informed. For a cross-country move, get the delivery window, the inventory count and what happens if a trailer breaks down written into the paperwork, and ask who is responsible for the shipment once it leaves Massachusetts.
Excellent communication throughout. Efficient, friendly on the day of move. How they got the peloton upstairs is a mystery. Even handled piano with care. Highly recommend!
Do NOT under any circumstances book this company. They were 3 hours late for the pickup. Also were late bringing them to the new location. Repeatedly kept lying to me over the course of the move out day, forgot many items and I had to drive back to a different state to pick them up myself. Supposedly they would give me a partial refund considering the extremely low quality service they had. They lied about this as well, overcharged me. I have pictures and videos documenting everything. Most of the packing had already been done by myself. I have moved to various countries and cities...This company was the worst service I have ever come across by a landslide.
Jim Sullivan at Armstrong is one of the best guys around. He helped coordinate a move for a family piano to our new house. The movers Benjamin and Jason showed up on time and made sure to do an excellent job protecting the piano and moving it with extreme care. It’s the little things that make all the big difference such as great communication, showing up right on schedule and putting moving mats down in your hallways that set Armstrong apart. Would highly recommend.
I've moved cross country twice and my first time (not with Armstrong) was not a great experience. This time around I was nervous and scared I'd go with the wrong company. Armstrong, which is a United Van Line affiliate, came to my house did a throrough quote and we were impressed by what they promised: 1 point of contact for admin, 1 point of contact and driver for the actual cross country move. They delivered on that promise and on a great service. The loading was so smooth and the guys were wonderful. I felt like my stuff was in trusted hands and they problem solved some stuff that my past movers didn't even try. Like getting a vintage farmtable out when the doorway was too small. These guys safely popped a window and tetris-ed it out! The move itself took 4-5 days a few days earlier than promise and the move-in was equally as smooth. No fuss and no issues. Timely and pleasant. I could not more highly recommend these folks. Special shout out to Dawn, our concierge who was on top of almost all of it. To be honest, she only missed a few notifications because the driver was way faster than expected! A great problem to have in my opinion.
Outstanding!!!! I could not have asked for a better moving experience. My moving contact at Armstrong was excellent at checking in several weeks from the move to days before the move and the day of to make sure everything was on schedule and going well. The movers themselves were professional and so careful with my belongings! Super team all the way around!!! Armstrong took the stress out of the actual moving experience!
