The Roof Doctor is a Hadley, Massachusetts roofer; its Angi and HomeAdvisor listings cover asphalt shingle installation and repair, flat, metal, tile and wood shake roofing, rubber roofing and commercial work. Its written reviews are from 2017 and 2018, all on Angi, and two of them are complaints. In a November 2017 review, a customer had a leaking ridge vent fixed with new shingles, and "50% of them blew off in the next storm," causing more leakage; after a week of calls, the roofer came back and said the modular home's ridge vent gap was too wide for shingles and the whole roof needed replacing. A March 2018 customer said the job took longer than promised, the final cost was more than the estimate, promised gutter cleaning was not done, and the dumpster stayed in the driveway for weeks. A December 2017 reviewer praised "quality workmanship." Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 2.3 stars from 3 ratings.
Job took longer than promised- workers asked to use micro and bathroom- also asked for food. Final cost was more than estimate- was promised gutters would be cleaned after roofing- they were NOT. The dumpster remained in driveway for weeks after project
Quality workmanship friendly personality thorough job
Showed up quickly, gave a quote, had them fix the leaking ridge vent. The contractor put on new shingles, but 50% of them blew off in the next storm, causing more leakage. After a week of calling, the original roofer came, and then informed us that the ridge vent (due to the home being modular) had an excessively wide gap that the shingles couldn't cover. It required an entire roof replacement to fix the issue. Poor customer service and industrial knowledge. Borderline bait and switch issue.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from The Roof Doctor. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
