A noisy, uneven garage door became smooth and quiet after Thompson Overhead Doors replaced its worn cables, pulleys and wheels, according to a July 2026 customer. The Framingham company handles garage door repairs and installations; its website says it has been in business for 75 years and serves Framingham, Hopkinton, Northborough and Marlborough. Another customer described repairs to original wooden doors on a 1957 Colonial. In that June 2026 review, Aaron Lessing said Brian and his assistant fixed problems involving springs, pulleys, rollers, safety eyes, seals, tracks, the opener, keypad and remotes. He said the doors then moved smoothly and everything worked as it should. The cost was higher than he initially expected, but he felt the workmanship was worth it. A May 2026 reviewer, Joan Mullen, praised the repair after a speeding car badly damaged her garage. An August customer also praised the company's responsiveness and completed work. In a January 2026 review, a customer said Joe installed two new doors and two new motors in freezing weather, then showed the customer how to operate the doors by phone. The customer described a smooth experience from the initial quote through installation and said they would use the company again. Google shows a 4.9-star average from 171 ratings. Pricing draws both praise and objections. The July reviewer praised the value of the repair, while a BBB reviewer complained about an excessive charge. Thompson's website advertises free estimates and 24/7 emergency service.
Thompson Overhead Doors was responsive, had the right solutions and got it done with ease. Am thankful for their excellent work and responsiveness. I can not recommend them more highly,
The service technician did an excellent job assessing the problem I was having with my garage door. The door was not opening smoothly and was making a lot of noise while opening and closing. He replaced old and frayed wire cables as well as the pulleys and wheels. Now it is running very smoothly and quietly. I was very pleased with the overall service experience and value.
Brian and his young assistent did an absolutely fantastic job on my garage doors. I have a 1957 Colonial with the original wooden garage doors, and both bays were badly in need of a tune up. We had broken springs and pulleys, missing rollers, garage door safety eyes that were out of alignment and missing parts from being bumped over the years, worn out and broken off rubber gaskets to seal the door to the floor, rusted tracks, a poorly installed garage door opener, a keypad that had not worked since we moved into the house in 1996, and no working remotes for the cars. Well, all of that is now fixed. The doors open and close incredibly smoothly, and everything works exactly as it should. The cost was a little higher than I initially expected, but quality workmanship is worth paying for, and this job was worth every penny. Great job, Brian! I hopefully will not need garage door service again for many years, but if I do, Thompson Overhead Door Company and Brian will be the only call I make. Thank you again. Regards, Aaron Lessing
I was very lucky to have the Thompson company help me. My garage was badly damaged by being struck by a speeding car. The repair was done expertly! Thank you, Joan Mullen
This company was really easy to work with, professional, and streamlined. From initial quote to final installation, everything was smooth. Our tech, Joe, was very nice And hard-working. Even though it was freezing cold, he installed two new doors and two new motors And showed us how to operate the doors from our phones. We are pleased and would use them again.
