For years the story about Tidy Havens was the same one, told over and over: she turns up, she doesn't miss anything, she's been coming for ages. Then the two most recent reviews landed, and both are one star. Camila Oliveira founded the Boston company and says she has spent eleven years building it, starting in residential cleaning at twenty-one and doing it, in her words, "the hard way—one home, one checklist, one standard at a time. No shortcuts, no franchise playbook." The work runs on standardized per-service checklists with background-checked technicians, across Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline and Newton and out through Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Medford, Arlington and Melrose. The company calls itself locally woman-owned and operated and fully insured — its own description, not something verified here. The older reviews are worth reading on their own terms. Writing in 2020 and 2021, customers described a crew that greeted a two-year-old by name, absorbed last-minute schedule changes, and kept a house "sparkling clean for the past 2 years." One client in January 2020 said she had hired cleaners for fifteen years and this was the best of them. Ten accounts sit between January 2020 and August 2021. Then the newer ones. A January 2026 customer paid $250 for a first cleaning and reported kitchen and bathroom counters that appeared untouched, dusting skipped on prominent surfaces, streaked mirrors and stainless steel, and floors left sticky after mopping — and said that when they sent photos, the company disagreed and pointed to its own. A free re-clean was offered; the customer declined it and told others to go elsewhere. In August 2026 a monthly client disputed a $35 cancellation charge on an appointment they say they asked to move rather than cancel, and got the money back through their credit card. Two complaints do not undo ten good years, but they are the newest things anyone has written, and one of them is about the cleaning itself — which is why the number here sits below the flat 4.2 that Angi and HomeAdvisor both display from the same twelve syndicated ratings. Separately, the nonprofit Cleaning for a Reason announced a partnership with Tidy Havens in April 2025 to provide free cleanings for cancer patients. If you call, get the checklist for your service in writing before the first visit, and settle the reschedule-and-cancellation terms — including exactly what triggers the $35 fee — in the same conversation. Both recent complaints turn on expectations one side thought were clear and the other did not.
“Boston, MA – April 25, 2025 – Tidy Havens is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit organization providing free home cleaning services to cancer patients across the United States and Canada.”
They a good job! I had problem with there unfair policy. And there something did I did not agree with. They do good job cleaning. I recurring cleaning once a month. They gave me a date when my next cleaning over a week in advance. I told that was not convenient for me the same day they text me. They claim that I cancel the appt. Which I did not. I requested a different day. And they charge me 35.00 which did before. So, I terminated my service with them. I call my credit card I told them I did not agree with that amount. I got my 35.00 back. I would never ever use them
I'm sad to say it, but our experience with Tidy Havens was not very good. The initial cleaning missed several basics: the kitchen and bathroom counters appeared untouched, dusting was not done on several prominent surfaces, stainless steel surfaces and mirrors had noticeable streaks, and the floors were left sticky where they had mopped. I reached out to the company hoping we could resolve the issues, and I shared photos to show what we were seeing. However, they disagreed with our assessment and stated that their own photos showed everything was clean. We were unable to come to a resolution. To their credit, they did offer me a free cleaning for the next time that they came, but I had very little confidence in their ability given their defensive response around the areas they missed on the first cleaning. Sadly, I recommend you go with a different provider.
Cam is kind and professional. Her and her crew have kept my house looking sparkling clean for the past 2 years now. All the cleaners are friendly and through. They always greet my 2 year old son by name, who is excited when “the ladies are here”. I never stop being surprised by their attention to detail. They have been excellent at accommodating schedule changes and last minute requests. I have referred her to another family who also loves her services. Definitely recommend.
Camille and her team has been coming to clean my house for many years. Alway does a great job. Fast and efficient. I would highly recommend!
Words to describe: punctual, hard-working, clear communication. Job well done.
