Tony's Fence builds its own fence sections in-house at 1558 River St in Hyde Park — wood, vinyl, chain link, iron and aluminum, plus gates, pergolas and arbors, with a showroom and material sold at both wholesale and retail. The company says it has been at that address since 1985; BBB dates the corporation to 1983 and lists Baystate Fence Company as an alternate name. Who runs it is a live question. The company's own site says Bogdan Kravchuk took over in 2017 from Antoni and Irena Kruczynski and Piotr Kierczak, while BBB still names Antoni Kruczynski as president and Houzz and BuildZoom still describe the older ownership. Ask who you are actually contracting with. Google tells two stories at once. The star average sits at 3.6 across 19 ratings, yet nearly every written comment is a five: in a 2023 review a customer singled out punctuality and clear communication with clients from different backgrounds, and a 2022 reviewer described being walked through the process on her first house project at what she called a reasonable price. The most recent comment, from April 2026, comes from someone who says they have run many projects with the shop over the years and names Bogdan and Amelia for follow-through. Nineteen ratings averaging 3.6 means a fair number of quieter low scores sit behind those write-ups. The complaint that does have a body is about the front end, not the fence. In April 2025 a customer wrote that after a site visit the proposal never arrived, and after chasing it for more than a month they hired someone else. If you call, pin down a date for the written quote. One credential matters here: its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 178591, is expired — the state registry confirms the number was held by Tony's Fence Company, Inc. Fencing-only work is exempt from that registration in Massachusetts, so the expiry is not a fault on a plain fence job, but the shop also builds pergolas and arbors, and BBB's A+ grade sits on a profile that is not accredited. BuildZoom's score of 0 for this company is a licence-and-permit artifact, not a customer verdict. For a custom wood or lattice fence in the Boston area from a shop that fabricates its own panels, they are a reasonable call, and its permits run from Milton and Brookline to Chestnut Hill. Get the written proposal in hand before committing, and confirm registration status directly with the state if your job goes beyond the fence line.

Tony's Fence is an amazing company. Bogdan, Amelia, and the team are rock solid when it comes to communication, follow through, and service after the sale. I have work on many projects with them over the years both big and small and they always deliver consistent results. Top notch, 5 stars!

After they came to the property they didn’t give me the proposal, when I call they promise to send it. After more than a month waiting I gave up & gave the business to other company.

Amazing company and a very high quality product! They listen and please the smallest of your wishes or needs. The owner is absolutely punctual and communicates very well with the culturally diverse clients. I do RECOMMEND!

Great experience working with Tony's. I'd highly recommend. This is how a business should operate and treat their customers.

Great looking fences but what impressed me the most was the outstanding customer service. This place really cares for their customers!
