Total Exteriors, LLC is a roofing and home-improvement company that says it has been in business 24 years. Its website describes work from roofing repairs after a storm to full roof replacements, in asphalt, wood and composite shingles, and lists 14 towns in its service area, among them Branford, Guilford, Madison, New Haven and New London. On its BBB page, the company describes itself as offering roofing, siding, windows, doors, kitchen and bath remodeling, decks, porches, basement waterproofing and additions. A 2022 customer whose pipe burst underneath the house, with siding and joist to be ripped out to reach it, said Dana showed up the next morning, gave a quote and got the repairs done that afternoon, working well into the dark. A 2023 customer said Dana and his crew completed a porch ceiling repair in a timely manner. A 2022 customer who used the company for a kitchen sink leak and a tub drain said the voicemail was full but a text message got a same-day response. A 2021 customer said Dana Mickelson had replaced their roof 10 years earlier, and that when a leak stain appeared on the kitchen ceiling, Dana said he would come by and then did not come or call back. In an addendum to that 2021 review, the customer said Dana contacted them the next day, apologized, inspected the roof and found no defects in the product or workmanship, then came back to pull the siding from around a window looking for the problem; the source was not definitively found, and the customer said they were pleased with his willingness. A 2025 customer said a roof the company did several years earlier was leaking because of faulty installation, with material lifting and wet, rotted sub-roof plywood, and that the owner, Dana, would not answer phone calls and the voicemail was always full. A 2022 reviewer writing from Europe said the company processed a payment on their credit card although they had never done work with it, and that the man who answered the phone said he had not worked under this business name in 5 years. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0672855, as expired, held by Total Exteriors LLC.
Wouldn’t let them put a roof on a dog house. Did a roof several years ago, now it’s leaking, due to faulty installation also lifting and adhesive not holding down material thus allowing water to get under material causing soft spots and sub roof plywood to become wet and rotted. Acknowledgement of poor work performed by His Crew to cause problems but won’t do anything nor will the Owner Dana, answer any phone calls and voice mail always says full.Terrible service, terrible Company to do Business with.
Dana and his crew are amazing! Had porch ceiling repair needed and they were just fantastic. Completed entire job in a timely manner and we were very happy with the finished job.
Used twice - once for kitchen sink leak and once for fixing tub drain. Quick response and reasonable rate. Voice mail was full but responded same day to a text message.
Someone at this business frudenalty uses Credit Cards. We have never used this company but somehow they charged our card for thousands of dollars. You can’t get in touch with anyone when you call because their voicemail is full. Looks like we are not the only victim to their credit card scam because I see another complaint here for the same offense.
Somehow this company stole my credit card information and illegally processed a payment! I reported it to my credit card company the day I saw the email regarding the fraudulent charge. After reporting the charge to my bank, I called up the business (it was around 2am local time - mind you, I’m currently in Europe and the time was around 8am) not expecting an answer. This dude answers all bright and cheerful, real bizarre. I told him that his company fraudulently charged my card and that I reported it. He asked me if I ever done work with his company, and I told him no, never! I told him I’m not even in the country at the moment. Then he said oh, uhhh okay well I haven’t worked under this business name in 5 year and haven’t had a credit card machine since then. So why did you ask if I ever done work with you company? Then he told me to call back at around 8am local time as the only reason he was at the office at 2am was to do some paper work, and we can try to resolve this in the morning. I don’t give benefit of the doubt, but I called and he’s been ignoring the phone calls. Anyway, this has been reported to the card company, FTC and when I visit the states again soon, to the police. AVOID!
