Two reviews, both from June 2020, and they land on opposite ends — that is the whole written history of Total Restoration Contractor, a Wakefield outfit that describes itself on BuildZoom as a kitchen and bathroom remodeling specialist. The good one is detailed. In a June 2020 review, a homeowner who hired the company for a bathroom remodel wrote that Naldo and his crew were respectful of the house, kept it clean while hauling out demo material, kept her posted on progress each day, and were finished in a week; she added that Naldo made sure she returned items she had bought that weren't right for the job. The other June 2020 review is a complaint about the sales visit rather than the work: a homeowner considering a bulkhead and frame replacement said he was on his cell phone throughout, took no measurements, and texted a price five minutes after leaving. The work itself is easier to trace than the reviews. BuildZoom's permit history shows a completed 2022 residential permit in Marblehead for a $29,400 bathroom added within existing interior space — the kind of job the company's own service list points at, alongside a long menu that runs from multi-room remodels to roofing, flooring, painting and masonry. BuildZoom also lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration for the company and prints a score of 111 that it says ranks in the top 4% of Massachusetts contractors; that number comes from permit activity, not from customers. What's worth knowing is how thin and how old the written history is. Everything customers have written about this company dates to a single month six years ago, on one directory, and the one account of an estimate visit is the unflattering one. Ask for recent references from jobs like yours, and confirm the registration number directly with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation before signing anything. If you're weighing them for a bathroom, the 2020 remodel account and the completed Marblehead permit are real, concrete points in their favor. Just go in expecting to do your own verification — there is very little current written history to lean on.

Considered for Bulkhead/Frame Replacement on his cell phone the whole time, took no measurements; texted within 5 minutes after leaving me with $$$ amount considering he paid no attention to me or my project.

Verified Hire — Bathroom Remodel project. I haven't had much experience with remodeling but I can't imagine a remodel project going any smoother. Naldo and his crew were very respectful of my home and they worked hard to keep it clean while removing demo'ed materials out of the house. I purchased a few items for the project before hiring Naldo and he made sure that I returned or exchanged those that weren't quite right for the project. He kept me informed of the progress he made each day and they were in and out in a week. The bathroom turned out better than expected. I'm already planning my next project for him.
