Twenty-six building permits, one customer review. That gap is the first thing to know about Tritto Contracting — a business BuildZoom lists under Mark Tritto at 80 Summit Ave in Winthrop, whose paper trail with local building departments runs far deeper than its presence on any review site. Its Houzz profile, which the company claims, describes it as family owned and operated, doing "home improvements of any kind," and names 46 Greater Boston towns it says it covers. Read the permits and a specialty emerges: rot, and the wooden structures that suffer it. A rotted beam and post on an enclosed rear porch in Revere in 2023, a rotted sill on a rear addition the same year, deck boards and railings in Everett in 2019, front stairs rebuilt in pressure-treated lumber in Brighton in 2017, rear porch railings and stairs in Brookline in 2024, a front deck replaced in Revere in 2025. Jobs typically land around $15,000, and seven of the 26 permits came within the last three years — active work, not a dormant history. Interior jobs show up too. Kitchen cabinets swapped in two East Boston apartments in 2024, an unpermitted kitchen torn out and rebuilt to code in Revere in 2023 for $19,000, bathroom remodels on Saratoga St in East Boston in 2022, and two closets built out in Revere in 2025 with lighting, outlets, plaster and wood floors for $27,600. The single written review, posted on BuildZoom in 2025, describes a kitchen finished about two years earlier; that customer named reasonable pricing, constant communication, and being given options to get it done their way. It is also the only voice on file, and one voice — however positive — is a narrow basis for judging how a crew handles a job that goes sideways. The Angi and Houzz profiles carry no reviews at all. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and a construction supervisor licence for the company, but those are BuildZoom's own listings rather than anything confirmed against the state registry, so ask for the numbers and check them yourself. Angi's page can't keep its own story straight on tenure either, claiming 33 years of experience in one line and over 15 in another. For porch, deck, stair and rot repair around East Boston, Revere and Winthrop, the permit history is real and current. Ask for recent local references before booking — permits prove the work happened, not how the homeowners felt about it.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Tritto Contracting. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
