Verified record
Marcia Veale runs Veale Construction Services, doing business as Veale Construction, out of Wakefield — Houzz lists her specialty as fine carpentry and woodworking, serving Eastern Massachusetts. The written record here is genuinely split. In a 2021 review, a homeowner described a kitchen remodel where Marcia found ways to manage cost while offering design ideas, then came back to have her rebuild a front porch, install new windows, and lay flooring in a back hallway — all, the reviewer said, done with care. In a 2018 review, another client described her rebuilding an old deck with Azek decking, working through problems that came up along the way and calling the result meticulous. That's balanced against a more recent account: a 2023 Houzz review describes missed timelines, the crew always waiting on product, and Marcia rarely on-site during the project. And in 2017, a prospective client who found her courteous and quick to reply went with someone else over concerns that other contractors' licenses were more current at the time. BuildZoom lists an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration (#169394) and an active Construction Supervisor license (CS-073937) for the company, along with two older Home Improvement Contractor numbers shown inactive — these are BuildZoom's own records, not a state-registry confirmation. Worth asking about before booking: how a current job would be staffed and scheduled, given the gap between the earlier praised work and the 2023 complaint about availability.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from VEALE CONSTRUCTION. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A typical single-level deck is 12×16 — about 200 sq ft.

nothing on time- seems kind of uninterested in the project always waiting on product She was hardly ever there during the project
Marcia updated my kitchen. She was extremely helpful in finding ways to manage cost while also offering excellent ideas about design. It came out beautifully! After this major job, I also hired her to rebuild my front porch, put in new windows on my enclosed back porch, and had her put down flooring in my back hallway. All of the work was done with care and I have been very happy with all of the results.
Marcia rebuilt an old deck, using Azek to replace the wood. She uncovered a few problems as she worked, and came up with affordable and effective solutions for everything. I found her work to meticulous and we're really happy with the results. We love our new deck!
courteous, prompt replies but too many other contractors out there with licenses up to date
