Vieira Painting is a Lexington, Massachusetts painting company whose customers keep describing the same thing: the owner, Nivaldo Vieira, working alongside his own crew. A homeowner who collected six bids in 2009 picked him partly because he does not sub the job out, and a 2011 reviewer described a small family company where he runs the crew and his wife handles the estimates. Angi rates the company 4.9 from 33 ratings, with 91% of them five stars; HomeAdvisor, in the same family, shows 4.0 from six. The company says it has 29 years in the trade, and lists interior and exterior painting alongside pressure washing, skim-coat plaster, gutter repair and wallpaper removal. The most detailed accounts are about difficult surfaces and tight schedules. A March 2013 customer had their house stripped back and said the wood came through undamaged with a nice finish, completed within a week of the promised start. A February 2013 reviewer described 150-year-old plaster walls smoothed out and painted, with add-ons and changes handled patiently. In 2015 a homeowner who had just had floors refinished said Nivaldo kept them paint-free and finished in the six days they had asked for. A 2019 customer had rotting shingles and wood trim identified, replaced and painted as part of an exterior repaint. Pace and site care come up repeatedly. A 2013 customer said the crew finished in three days against a five-day quote, moved and replaced the heavy furniture, sheeted off the rooms that weren't being painted, and kept the radios down. When rain ruined a freshly stained deck in 2006, Nivaldo came out the next day and put a second coat on within a couple of days. Two things worth raising before you call. Communication has been an issue for some customers: a September 2006 reviewer said the two workers who came spoke little English, and a 2010 customer described a language issue, though both said the owner stayed reachable. And the substantive complaints are about prep and weather judgment — a July 2006 customer said the woodwork was not prepped at all, only painted over, and a 2012 customer watched a painter coat the garage under storm clouds with the paint running down onto the windows and shrubs. Two reviewers in 2010, one on each platform, also called the price high, while customers in 2009 and 2011 called the quotes competitive. The written accounts run from 2004 to July 2019, so ask for recent local references and get crew, price and scope in writing.
