Nivaldo Vieira has been painting houses around Lexington long enough that customers posted their prices in 2013 dollars — $4,500 for a three-day job, $8,500 to strip and refinish a house exterior, $14,000 for a project built around 150-year-old plaster. The Better Business Bureau lists Vieira Painting at 18 Hamblen Street in Lexington, doing interior and exterior painting and paper hanging, with 29 years in business. Much of what customers described is prep and protection rather than the finish coat. In a July 2019 review, a homeowner said Nivaldo answered the same day a message was left, bid competitively, and identified, replaced and painted rotting shingles and wood trim. A February 2013 customer said he was not daunted by 150-year-old plaster walls and smoothed them out before painting. In May 2015, a homeowner whose floors had just been refinished said he took care that they stayed paint-free and finished in the six days requested, and a January 2017 reviewer had walls repaired and said you cannot even tell there was ever any damage. Timelines mostly landed early or on the mark: three days against a quoted five in an August 2013 job, a week for the stripped exterior in March 2013, a crew on time every day on a July 2018 exterior. A September 2004 customer said the job was delayed a bit from the original estimate, and that they took as much time as needed on the whole house plus cabinets. The complaint in writing is from November 2012, and it is a weather call: one painter kept coating the garage under dark storm clouds with heavy afternoon rain forecast, and the paint ran down onto the windows. That homeowner was still pleased with the result overall. A March 2010 Angi reviewer called the work great but a bit expensive, while three others put the price on the other side of the ledger — the most economic of several estimates in September 2004, an extremely competitive bid in July 2019, and a very fair price for the quality in January 2017. The written reviews run from 2004 to 2019, and the two platforms tell different stories about the business: HomeAdvisor shows 4.9 from 33 ratings, Angi 4.0 from six, whose breakdown includes 20% at two stars and 10% at one. Angi's page also notes free estimates and Spanish-language service. For an interior repaint or an older-house exterior that needs carpentry and plaster work before paint, these accounts describe exactly that job; ask for addresses from the last year or two that you can look at, and settle the rule for calling off an exterior day when rain is forecast.
We can't say enough about Vieira Painting. Nivaldo contacted us the same day we left a message on his service and gave us an extremely competitive bid on much-needed repairs and painting of our home's exterior. He identified, replaced, and painted rotting shingles and wood trim and repaired a damaged gutter. Nivaldo was on-site at all times, working alongside his polite, professional team. We will call on them for all future projects.
Came out beautiful.
Navaldo painted the exterior of my house and it has never looked better. His crew was on time every day and did a thorough and excellent job. I also had interior painting done and the work was excellent. I will definitely hire him again.
The work is excellent. They repaired the walls, and you cannot even tell there was ever any damage. I have used them several times and will definitely use them again. The price is very fair especially when the quality of the work is factored in.
They did an efficient and high quality job, with great attention to detail. We'd had our floors refinished immediately prior to the painting and Nivaldo took care that the floors stayed paint-free. The job was complete in 6 days, which was what we requested. We were so happy that the job stayed on schedule since we had a tight timeframe in having the painting done and then moving furniture in the next day. We selected our colors and sent the codes for them by email, including instructions for no voc paint, and it all came out the way we specified.
