Volksheim Home Improvement is a Salem, Massachusetts home-improvement contractor that describes itself as family-owned and locally operated, run by Paul Cucinelli. The company says it works across Salem, Beverly, North Andover, Waltham, Gloucester, and several other North Shore towns, and Thumbtack lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration for the company (#211408). The work described most often is carpentry. In an October 2024 review, a customer said Cucinelli resized a built-in kitchen cabinet to make room for a larger refrigerator, and another described an addition that needed heavy structural reinforcement, adding they would hire him again for other projects. A June 2024 customer praised a timely storm-door installation, and an October 2025 reviewer said the company fixed problems a previous contractor had created. Reviewers writing in January 2026 called Cucinelli and his crew responsive, with one crediting an employee, Jonathan, for detailed finish work. Plumbing and heating jobs come up too, with mixed results. A June 2024 review credited the company with a gas water heater replacement, a sump pump repair, and furnace service, calling the work reliable. But in a May 2025 Angi review, a customer said a newly installed on-demand water heater and hydro-air heating system kept shutting off weekly, requiring five or six return visits. Volksheim looks like a solid call for carpentry, cabinet, and trim work, where several customers came back for more. For any heating-system installation, get a clear written scope and warranty terms up front, and confirm the registration number directly with the state before booking.

Paul was very responsive and very easy to talk to! He was knowledgeable and would provide solid professional advice with reasonable recommendations for repair and maintenance. I am very happy with his quality work for the gas furnace repair work! I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of assistance!…
Paul was great to work with and he did a wonderful job. He has a small team with a flexible schedule and they were able to get my project on the books and complete within 2 weeks, start to finish. We hired Paul to replace a door frame to our wacky 1800s bathroom. It ended up being a can-of-worms when we opened up our wall and Paul was able to fix the problem and make it look perfect while staying in budget. Will be sure to reach out him in the future for more projects!! See pic for finished work (entire new door & door frame, new drywall, and a lot of carpentry!)…
Volksheim Home Improvements fixed the the problems that a different company created. The finished work looks great. Very professional and good quality.
