Volt Seed Solar works out of 28 Dudley Oxford Rd in Dudley and sells and leases rooftop solar to homeowners, handling the permitting, National Grid interconnection and net-metering paperwork that goes with it. The company says it is locally owned and run by an owner named Dallin, who it says started in solar at Solar City before forming Volt Seed, and it claims more than ten years in the industry. What people say about them in public is about service work rather than sales. In March 2025 a central Massachusetts homeowner on r/solar whose SolarEdge inverter had failed wrote that Dallin, Rosemary and Heidi came out the next day after he reached out, got the RMA approved with SolarEdge in less than an hour, and had him producing again 17 days after going down — ten of those days spent waiting on SolarEdge itself. Another commenter in that thread was the one who pointed him there, saying Volt Seed will take the time to do service work. The state registry lists an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 202275, held under VOLT SEED TECH LLC. The Better Business Bureau grades the business A- while stating plainly that it is not BBB accredited and that the grade rests on length of time operating; BBB opened its file on the company in January 2025, a file date rather than a trading history, and the company's own site claims 10+ years. They are a sensible call if you have an orphaned or misbehaving system and want someone who will actually come out — that is the one thing more than one person vouches for here. Before signing for a full install, ask to see local systems they have put in, get the ownership-versus-lease economics in writing, and confirm the HIC registration number covers the entity named on your contract.
“Thank you so much for recommending Volt Seed!”
“UPDATE: I am back to producing 17 days after going down. A HUGE THANK YOU to Dallin, Rosemary and Heidi over at Volt Seed Solar of Dudley, MA (https://voltseed.com/). After I reached out to them to troubleshoot the inverter, they came through big time by visiting **the next day** and got the RMA approved with SolarEdge in less than an hour. 10 of the 17 days I was down was waiting for SolarEdge to ”
“Try Volt Seed or United Better Homes. They both will take the time to do service work.”
