Washek Electric is a one-person operation Kevin Washek has run out of Wayland since 1990, taking on residential and commercial electrical work across MetroWest towns including Newton, Natick, Framingham, Sudbury, Wellesley and Weston. The name that keeps showing up in reviews is Kevin himself. In a 2023 Google review, one homeowner described using him and his team for more than five separate jobs over about seven years — everything from swapping light fixtures to adding recessed and overhead lighting. A 2021 review credits him with installing overhead lights, ceiling fans, and a NEMA 14-50 outlet for electric-car charging in a garage. More recent reviews, from late 2023 and early 2024, describe the work as quick, professional and something they'd call back for again rather than shop around. Building-permit records show 57 electrical projects filed under his name since 2015, concentrated around Weston and Wayland — a body of steady work rather than a handful of jobs. His Better Business Bureau profile carries an A+ rating, though the business isn't BBB-accredited. One thing worth confirming before booking: BuildZoom lists a Newton-issued electrical contractor license under Washek Electric's name that its own records show expired in July 2022. That's a directory's claim rather than a state verification, so it's worth asking Kevin directly about his current license status. For lighting work, a service call, or an EV charger install in the MetroWest area, the repeat-customer pattern here is the strongest signal — just get the license question settled up front.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Washek Electric. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
“Grandson Kevin owns Washek Electric”
Always reliable - my go to electrician. I've used for a couple of jobs - high quality work. Highly recommend.
Helped me quickly when I needed them most, quick and professional
I have worked with Kevin and his team multiple times (at least 5+) over the past 7 years. He has done "simple" things for us like changing light fixtures, but also more complicated things like changing exterior lights, adding overhead lighting (both hanging and recessed lighting), installing electrical vehicle chargers, changing fuses on our breaker, etc etc. He is very responsive, has replied to calls or texts same day and has come by to address problems same day. Has good communication skills. Highly recommend. Update 2025: installed whole house generator, Kevin coordinated the entire project, smooth execution, great communication throughout, up and running as it should.
Kevin and team did an excellent job adding overhead lights and fans, as well as installing a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage for electric car charging.
