WC Builders

A basement office finished ahead of schedule, with the crew cleaning up at the end of every day: that is what a homeowner described in a March 2024 review of WC Builders, the Kingston design/build company most reviewers who name it still call WC Carpentry. Its site says the business started out carpentry-focused and grew into full-service residential and commercial work — custom builds, kitchens, bathrooms, additions, inside and out. John runs it. The company describes him as owner, general contractor and project manager, with more than 20 years in construction and U.S. Marine Corps service starting in 2008, and points to a family history in the trade; Erika, by the same account, handles office management and interior design. The jobs customers write about tend to be whole ones. Writing in December 2023, a couple said their addition and remodel came out exactly as they wanted and stayed on time even though the pandemic began mid-renovation. Another December 2023 review covers the kitchen, bath and rear entryway of a small cottage — a small space with a lot of moving parts, as that homeowner put it — and credits John with listening and working through their questions. In an August 2024 review, a homeowner described a full renovation that changed the look of the house inside and out and said John kept it to the budget they had agreed. Smaller work shows up too. A January 2024 review describes a gas fireplace with floating shelves, windows and custom cabinets in the living room, plus a built-in beverage area with custom cabinets in the dining room. A December 2023 customer who had numerous projects done, including new windows and a deck built from the ground up, called the work timely and the pricing reasonable; in January 2026, another had two doors and several windows replaced and settled on the stain color together with the company. Money and the calendar are where the praise gets specific — quotes "spot on" in an August 2025 review, on budget in August 2024, finished early in March 2024 — so put your own quote and schedule in writing and hold them there. Ask how the design side runs as well: interior design sits with Erika per the company's site, and the August 2024 reviewer credited her with the design work on that renovation. For an addition, a gut renovation, or a room that needs framing, cabinets and finish carpentry from one outfit, this is a natural South Shore call. Agree the scope, the budget and the finish date in writing before the first day on site.
