White Wood Kitchens is a Sandwich-based kitchen and bath design firm, not a construction crew: its designers help you pick cabinets, countertops, and layout, then pair you with one of their partner contractors to handle the actual installation. Founded in 2013 by Gail O'Rourke, the company changed ownership in 2023 — Cambridge Savings Bank financed the buyout — and now operates locations in Sandwich, Kingston, and Pembroke under new owner Anton. It holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and has picked up multiple Houzz awards for its design work. Under Gail O'Rourke, reviews from 2016 through 2019 describe her personally guiding full kitchen and bath renovations — picking cabinets, counters, and hardware, and staying involved through construction on projects as big as a full-gut remodel. Since the ownership change, newer designers get the same kind of praise: Cindy, in a 2022 review and again this August, is credited with translating a client's vision into cabinet choices, and Angela Carlson, Kristen, and Lisa each get named in 2025 and 2026 reviews for creative ideas and attentive service. One reviewer whose East Sandwich kitchen had flooded said the team designed the whole replacement this June and delivered on quality. Because White Wood pairs you with a separate installation contractor rather than installing the work itself, the quality of that pairing is what goes wrong when it does. A 2022 Houzz review said the installer they were matched with was unqualified and the issues went unaddressed, and a 2024 review described poor communication and a lack of supervision from both a designer and a contractor who later went out of business — though a separate 2024 review said new owner Anton stepped in to fix a similar handoff problem quickly once he learned about it. Separately, BuildZoom says it was unable to verify an active license for the company. This is a strong call for kitchen or bath design and cabinetry — the design side has a long, well-reviewed track record. Ask specifically who the paired installation contractor will be and check their credentials directly, since that's where past customers have had the most trouble.
