designREMODEL Baths, Kitchens & More is a Mashpee design-build shop that owner John Clark says he's run for more than 30 years, working Upper Cape towns from Bourne to Dennis. The name comes up almost exclusively for full kitchen and bathroom overhauls — demolition-to-the-studs jobs, not a single fixture swap — and the same handful of craftsmen keep showing up by name across the reviews: Al on tile and plumbing, Kemp on paint, Adam and Mike on cabinetry and carpentry, with Clark himself running the schedule and communication. The written record runs a full decade, 2015 through 2025, and it's unusually consistent for that span: 21 reviews across Google and Houzz, every one five stars, with specifics that repeat rather than contradict each other. Homeowners describe gut kitchen rebuilds, a complicated tile mural, custom cabinetry, and multi-trade coordination — plumbing, electrical, painting — all run under one project lead, with regular photo and text updates while they were away from the house. A 2017 review from a Harwich homeowner recalled the project running past its original schedule once scope changes were added, and a 2017 Houzz account mentioned a few issues during the build that Clark absorbed rather than passing along — the ordinary friction of a real renovation, handled rather than hidden. One entry in the review count is worth a second look: a 2022 Google post is written by someone who says she has supplied the company's marketing and web materials since 2016. That's a business relationship, not a remodeling client's account, even though it's counted among the customer reviews. Before calling, ask directly about the license numbers the company and Houzz cite — HIC #145474 and CSL #065629. They're self-reported and directory-listed, including a BuildZoom page that calls its own listing "verified," but they didn't resolve in an independent state registry check here, so it's worth confirming with OCABR yourself. Otherwise, this is the contractor Cape Cod homeowners call for a full kitchen or bath remodel who want one person managing every subcontractor, backed by a Best of Houzz run from 2013 through 2017 and a stated NARI affiliation.
“shoes, while the other functions as the kitchen pantry. “Practicality can be beautiful,” says Muller. “You don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.” The cottage haven was a hard-won prize. For Muller, the people made the experience worth the trials. Unable to be present during the renovations due to her long recovery, Muller was stunned by the effortlessness of the process. “I’ve worked with hundreds of contractors over my career, and John Clark of @designREMODEL, was the easiest and most conscientious person I’ve ever worked with. To me, that speaks volumes of people on the Cape.” Muller go”
We recently had a complete kitchen remodel by @designREMODEL and couldn't be happier with the project. Everything from A to Z was carried out as planned and on schedule. John and his team take great care and concern about every step of the process. He provided insights and perspectives on all the parts of the project from initial planning to final completion. Communications were top notch using his internet portal set up for us. If we had a question, he was always available to go over it. His team shows up early and works hard until done. Highly recommend his work.
@dersignREMODEL completely redid our kitchen. Demolished to the studs then totally built out. Work was done professionally and timely with surprisingly little mess. The craftsman and subcontractors were scheduled efficiently with very few gaps. The gaps were mainly drying times that needed to be adhered to and not rushed. Issues that came up after installation were addressed at no extra charge. The cabinets are high quality and three years later are holding up perfectly. The only downside was our choice of tile was unique and extremely tricky to handle and install (glass with four layers 36”x9”). Only highly experienced tilers with glass experience should handle this type of installation. However the issues were resolved at no additional cost to us. Highly recommend.
John and his team of contractors who worked on our bathroom project were professional. They listened to what we wanted and offered innovative ideas and suggestions to make sure the project met what we envisioned. Would highly recommend @designREMODEL.
@designREMODEL exemplifies excellence in every aspect of their work. We've worked with many different contractors over the years but this company stands out among the rest. John offers effective communication, exceptional craftsmanship and resolute professionalism. Truly a rare gem these days. If you're looking to remodel your home choosing @designREMODEL is an investment in quality and peace of mind.
We went looking for a contractor to remodel our house with trepidation, expecting the worst. You know all the horror stories already. If you're wanting to avoid all of them, go with @designREMODEL. John earned our trust every step of the way. In the design process, John returned detailed plans for every amendment we made within a day or two. The meticulousness of these plans--not just mock-ups on computer that look nice (which we got from another place), but old school, to the eighth inch designs of every element--was what made us choose him for the remodel. After the remodel started, John was in almost daily contact with us, as we were out of state. No detail was too small for a quick check-in. If we were heading in an unworkable direction, he gently went through our options to get us as close to our vision as possible. He secured top tradespeople who could do the custom work we asked for. His billing was meticulous as well; the entire project was completed within two weeks of when he said and to the dollar amount he said (any additions were things we added and were willing to pay for). Particularly if you're looking for a contractor who will match your unique vision rather than a pre-conceived idea of what an interior should look like, you'll be delighted with @designremodel. We love our new home!
