Whittier Paving

We had our driveway completely redone by Whittier Paving on May 16–17, 2016, and I wanted to come back almost 10 years later and share how it has held up. The original driveway (installed in 2003) had issues with pitch and base work, and it was ultimately damaged further when a large truck from a solar company’s tree crew drove on it during a very hot day. That combination caused the driveway to fail, so a full replacement was needed. Before choosing Whittier, I spoke with several other companies. A couple would not even come out and were quoting based on Google images. Pricing was all over the place, and one lower quote only planned to strip and patch the damaged areas without addressing the underlying issues. When Joe Whittier came out in person, it was clear right away they understood what needed to be done. They identified the pitch problem and the base issues, and during removal they showed me that sections along the edge had no proper binder underneath, which explained why the asphalt had weakened and broken apart. The crew worked efficiently as a team from start to finish. They began removal on day one, completed the main work early on day two, and then returned to take care of final details. They were professional, started early each day, and did not cut corners. They also widened the driveway while they were here, which made a big difference. Communication was solid throughout. They answered questions and followed up as needed, which I appreciated during a project of this size. Now, nearly 10 years later, the driveway has held up very well. The surface remains smooth and solid, with only minor edge wear and some light cracking, which is expected at this age. At this point, it just needs sealcoating to keep it in good shape. Overall, this was a large job, and they did it right. Based on long-term performance, I would absolutely recommend Whittier Paving.

My wife’s car started sinking where the four tires sat, and she’s on the road a lot. Joe came back( finally) to just add patch over only two of the sink holes. My driveway looks like recycled asphalt, and not as thick as he said, I’ve got weeds and plants growing up though on some of the edges, granted my driveway is now two years old, the one he replaced lasted 30 years put in my Johnson Paving. I would not recommend him to anybody. Very unhappy.

My driveway was in desperate need of repair with cracks and loose asphalt. Joes team came in and did everything that we asked for. The driveway looks amazing now. I am extremely happy with their work and customer service. They went above and beyond. I will recommend them to others I know that are looking for the same.

Wouldn’t hire these guys after one of their workers almost ran me off the road. You’re in a big truck, you probably shouldn’t tail someone going 75MPH on the highway. Absolutely ridiculous driving, you should be ashamed of yourself. Really smart to be driving like that with your business on the side of your truck!!! You probably don’t think like that though, because you aren’t smart.
