Wilcox Tree Experts holds a 4.9-star average from 72 ratings on Google. The company's own site says it removes hazardous trees, does selective removal to let in more sunlight, clears land and grinds and removes stumps, and it says it has been in business 30 years. One recent customer noticed that the ground workers talk to the aerial worker through a radio headset, so nobody shouts over the equipment, and said there wasn't a leaf or stick left behind. A customer with a job of 20+ trees describes a smooth process from the quote through scheduling to final payment. A 2026 reviewer said they removed a very large white pine with full stump grinding and left no sign that a crane and bucket lift had been there. A 2025 customer said they removed six large hazardous trees at a price that customer called reasonable. A 2025 reviewer wrote that four trees came down by crane and the stumps were ground. A 2022 customer said Jason Wilcox explained a disease in a red maple and how to remedy it, and that the tree responded almost immediately. A 2023 builder wrote that Wilcox is one of their most reliable subcontractors. A customer of more than five years says the crew drove a large lift onto the property without discussing it, damaged the stone border on the driveway and compacted the lawn. That customer says the owner later came back and the cobblestone repair was fine, but the indents in the lawn remain. A 2022 customer said Wilcox removed most of a tree on a property line without notifying them before entering their property.
This company is top notch. Their operation is very professional. They show up with clean solid working equipment, and when they leave, you'd never know they were there. There wasn't a leaf or stick left behind. What impressed me, was their communication system. The ground guys communicate with the aerial guy through a radio headset, so there's no yelling over equipment noise. Thats awesome safety. We were very happy with the work they did. I would definitely use them again.
I cannot recommend Wilcox Tree Experts highly enough. From the initial quote through scheduling, completion of the work, and final payment, the entire process was smooth, professional, and easy. Communication was excellent throughout, scheduling was straightforward, and every member of the crew was courteous, professional, and clearly took pride in their work. The scope of work was substantial (20+ trees), and I was genuinely impressed by the skill, efficiency, and attention to detail of the team. They worked safely, left the property in great condition, and the final result exceeded our expectations. It was obvious from the moment they arrived that they were experienced professionals who knew exactly what they were doing. What stood out most was how easy they were to work with. Questions were answered promptly, expectations were clear, and any minor misunderstandings were handled professionally and fairly. If you’re looking for a tree company that delivers exceptional work and provides a first class customer experience from start to finish, Wilcox Tree Experts is it. I would not hesitate to use them again and would confidently recommend them to anyone!
After over 5 years of regular service, I will no longer be using Wilcox Tree Experts. During service this past spring, the crew drove a large lift onto my property, which was not discussed with me and without protecting my lawn or driveway. The lift damaged the stone border on my driveway and compacted large sections of my lawn. Luckily, I don’t believe my leaching field was damaged despite the lawn above it being heavily compacted. When I raised this with the owner, he became combative and told me my concerns were “nothing” – that the lawn compaction would “fix itself” and my driveway was damaged because it was constructed “wrong” by someone who “didn’t know what they were doing”. The call ended without a resolution. Shortly after the first call, I called their office to cancel all future treatments at my property. During that call, the owner did offer to come back and fix the issues and, as a gesture, he offered to blow out my gardens and remove a pile of garden trimmings I had. The repair of the cobblestones was fine – not perfect but good enough to move on from. The deep indents and compaction in the lawn remain – now several months later – and will require me to relevel the yard this fall. He did remove the pile of the trimmings, but the gardens weren’t really blown out. While I appreciate him returning to address the issues, I still have a damaged lawn that will require more work to repair. I think the Wilcox crew has done good work pruning, which is why I am giving them two stars. However, for the prices they charge, I expected them to protect the property from damage and, certainly, fix obvious damage without the customer having to raise it first. Ultimately, I could have moved past all of this given the previous years of good work, however, given how the owner reacted and spoke when I raised my concerns, I will no longer be using them. Update and Response to the owner: the damage was not minimal. You can walk across my yard and now, a year later, still follow the indents left by the equipment. You can see where it entered the yard and then follow the path it traveled that day. In some areas, the ruts it let behind are 1-2" deep. It certainly isn't minor damage and poking it with a pitch fork a few times was never going to resolve the issue. Again, I could get past the mistakes but I won't be working with Wilcox Tree Experts based on how the owner handled this.
Wilcox Tree gets my absolute highest recommendation. They removed an extremely large white pine, including full stump grinding and removal. Their crew was professional, diligent and extremely hard working. When done there was no sign what so ever that a crane, large bucket lift, picker, chipping and grinding equipment were ever there. Remarkable job!
My experience with Wilcox Tree Experts has been very good. Jason Wilcox is very knowledgeable about trees, shrubs and offers many services, some of which have saved the life of mature shrubs we would have lost and which would have cost a lot to replace, tick and mosquito applications that help immensely making it safe and more enjoyable to spend time outside on the deck and in the yard, organic deer repellent applications to avoid the damage deer can do to trees and shrubs, to name a few. Jason and Hunter are quick to respond to phone calls and E Mails. I would highly recommend this company.
