Williams Landscaping Handyman Service is a New Bedford business run by Whynton, who a 2021 community feature named alongside his wife as fellow small-business owners in the city. The clearest praise sits in two 2020 reviews: one homeowner said he cleared 200 feet of heavy overgrowth along a property line, showed up on time, and cleaned up afterward, calling him "a real find"; another called a landscaping job prompt and high quality enough to become a repeat customer. Things get more complicated after that. A 2020 review said a job was left unfinished while more money kept getting asked for. A 2022 review described someone who worked in short 30-45 minute stretches, requested payment upfront, and never finished the job. And the most recent written account, from 2023, was for a different kind of job — installing vinyl flooring, a wall, and a tiled shower — and described uneven flooring and warped, misaligned tile that would need to be redone. That split is worth noticing before booking: the positive reviews are about outdoor landscaping and cleanup, while the complaints cluster around larger interior jobs and money changing hands before the work was done. Its HomeAdvisor and Angi listings, which mirror the same reviews, put the overall rating at 4.2 from 16 total ratings, though only five carry written detail. For yard cleanup, brush clearing, or routine lawn and power-washing work, these accounts point in his favor. For anything bigger — flooring, tiling, structural work — get a clear scope and a payment schedule in writing, and hold off on paying in full before the job is done.

We hired Alex to install vinyl flooring, add a wall, and install/tile a shower. He seems like a nice guy but we found him to be unreliable and unskilled. Our flooring is uneven in several places and will have to be re-done. The shower tile was not spaced correctly and warped in several places. We had to let him go because things just got worse and worse. He also put all of the work on us to get materials, pull permits, and even used our tools without asking. He completely ignored our timeline for the project and was nowhere close to being done before we told him not to come back. I would not recommend him to anyone.
Horrible! Never finished the job had to pay another person. Asked for the money upfront. Came and went only working 30-45 minutes then always had an excuse to leave. Kept complaining about his day job. Asked for gas money! Not professional at all. Don't waste your time and money.
I am extremely pleased with the work done by Williams Landscaping. Work was done promptly and with high quality. I will be a repeat customer for sure!
Did not finish the job. Continued to ask for more and more money. Bragged incessantly about being a professional, but was rarely at job site, his "helpers" did the majority of the work.
Whynton-Alex (who actually goes by the name Alex) did a truly superb job. He cleared over 200 ft of heavy overgrowth along a property perimeter, a significant effort. He, and his father in-law Gary, are easy to work with, show up on-time, and clean up well. He is a real find for us; we plan to use him in the spring to create a new perimeter of young plants and trees.
